Hello Hive foodie friends!
I'm back with a new blog post today. I started writing this yesterday but had to stop due to a severe migraine. Thankfully, medication and rest helped, and the pain was gone this morning. Usually, my migraines last for days, so I'm relieved this one didn't.
Perhaps yesterday's pain was my body's way of telling me to slow down. I've been pushing myself hard lately, juggling housework, childcare, household management, my food side hustle, and data entry. With the end of the school year approaching and a long list of expenses, I've felt the need to hustle. No doubt, my body is signaling that it's time for a break.
For those wondering, my little food business is still thriving! Our consistent bestsellers, the graham bars and ice candies, are always stocked in the freezer. We're fortunate to have daily customers for our frozen treats, likely because it's the height of the hot season here in the Philippines, and everyone craves something refreshing. I do experiment with new items from time to time, but I am intending to take a break from cooking next week to lighten my load. Of course, with the school year drawing to a close, I might just get restless and end up cooking and selling again, we never know! But for now, here is a glimpse of what I've been making these past few weeks.
My Maja Blanca also proved to be popular in our small community, always selling out quickly. To give everyone more delicious options, I decided to get creative with variations. That's how the Trio Tub was born! It features a tempting trio of Mango Float, creamy Maja Blanca, and refreshing Fruit Cocktail Jelly. You can grab your favorite individually or treat yourself to the whole set at a discounted rate.
After that, I started getting bulk orders, including some with special requests that are not part of the product menu. It was heartwarming to see the support coming from relatives and friends, many of whom already know and enjoy my cooking, even those who live far away. They were kind enough to say they'd handle the transportation—whether by booking a delivery service or coming to get it themselves—which I really appreciate, as it takes one thing off my plate.

The special request from my customer was for pork Shanghai rolls. While these aren't usually on my product list, I made an exception for my aunt. I know she's very particular about who prepares her food, especially frozen meat—guess those trust issues are hereditary. lol

You can see in the photo below the individual mango float tubs I prepared for a customer's school potluck. I offered a larger party tray, but they specifically requested these smaller tubs, mentioning they'd be convenient for taking leftovers home after the event. Smart thinking!
Next, I received another potluck order, which I believe is for a school farewell celebration. This time, it was for chocolate brownies. Interestingly this is a repeat customer. This person had previously bought my tubbed brownies, but now they are getting the whole tray!
After that, I decided to introduce another delicious ice candy flavor: Melon and Fruit Salad! My mango graham and rich chocolate ice candies are already big hits, especially with my young customers. What makes them special is that I use real, natural fruit for the flavor and pack them with yummy fruit bits.
