I’ll never get tired of eating noodles, that’s for sure! And there’s one type I always crave: handmade noodles! Hahaha :D
So for lunch, I decided to skip my usual rice meal and go for a delicious bowl of dry Beef Tendon Noodles. It’s the special kind I love.
I usually eat at hawker centers because that’s where I can find tasty food without spending too much. But since it was a Sunday, I treated myself to a nice restaurant that offers not only good food but also a pleasant ambiance. It was air conditioned, the seats were comfy, and all of that made the experience even better.
The restaurant I’m talking about is Tongue Tip Lanzhou Beef Noodles, located at Woodgrove, Woodlands, Singapore!
I really like the cleanliness of the interior, and it feels comfortable too. The design isn’t overwhelming, and the colors used are very calming. I mention this because many Chinese restaurants tend to use a lot of red, which can be quite dominant. Red is great for creating a lively atmosphere, but sometimes I just want to eat in a more relaxing setting, hehe. The interior design may be simple, but its calming vibe suited my mood today, so I decided to go for it.
I'm not sure if you noticed in one of the photos, but the chef is actually making or hand-stretching the noodles to order. That really added to the overall great experience I had. It's always nice to see an open kitchen, especially when there's a bit of theatrics involved. The chef’s skill is impressive, and I was clearly entertained by it.
My food arrives!
The food may look simple, but it’s actually very tasty and full of flavor. The soup, in particular, is rich and has a subtle hint of Sichuan pepper, hehehe... which is why I felt a slight numbness on my tongue with the first sip. I enjoy that sensation when it’s subtle, so kudos to the chef for adding that extra layer of experience to what is essentially a complimentary soup. :)
I decided to go for the non-spicy version, and I was pleasantly surprised that everything was still full of flavor. Every ingredient was cooked to perfection. Even the vegetables had a nice flavor and a satisfying bite. It was just right. And of course, the beef tendon was very well cooked. It had a gelatinous texture, was easy to chew, and blended beautifully with the handmade noodles.
Overall, it was a satisfying meal that truly hit the spot. The combination of quality ingredients, skillful preparation, and a relaxing atmosphere made it a memorable dining experience. I’ll definitely be coming back for another bowl of those delicious handmade noodles!
