One of the reasons I did a photowalk along Lavender Street was so I could dine at Lam's Noodle Place.
It's a popular local restaurant known for serving freshly made noodles. That’s quite rare these days, as most noodle places use factory-made noodles. Handmade noodles take time and effort to prepare—they're definitely not as easy to make or serve. So, I understand why many restaurants opt out. It’s a challenge, but totally worth it!
There’s a noticeable difference in quality between handmade noodles and factory-made ones. That’s exactly why I’ll always choose handmade noodles whenever I find a place that serves them.
I visited Lam's hoping to order their salt-baked chicken rice, but it was already sold out—even though it was only around 7:30 PM! I didn’t expect them to run out so early in the evening. The only dishes left at that time were noodles, so I went with the simple Minced Meat Noodles.
This dish is also my go-to at noodle shops because I really enjoy the mix of toppings. It comes with sliced pork, minced pork, fishball, and braised mushroom. You can’t go wrong with it—it’s a staple in almost every noodle shop.
By the way, there’s one ingredient that’s not the healthiest, but I absolutely love it: deep-fried pork lard! 😄 It adds so much flavor to the dish, and the crispy bits are a burst of richness when you bite into them. Sure, it’s pure fat—but since they only add a small amount, I don’t feel too guilty munching on it. 😄
Of course, the best part of the dish is the noodles themselves. I like the thin ones because they absorb the flavors from the sauce and toppings really well. And slurping them? Totally fine—as long as you're enjoying the meal, right? 😄
Dining at Lam’s Noodle Place was a satisfying way to end my photowalk along Lavender Street. Despite missing out on the salt-baked chicken rice, the handmade noodles more than made up for it. Sometimes, it’s the simple, comforting dishes that leave the strongest impression.
