They say you are not from Dalaguete if you do not know what banana meat is. For context, Banana Meat simply speaks itself as "banana with meat (ground pork)". People have different feedback after tasting it. But one thing that's common is that it is really delicious. The sweetness of the banana and the salty taste of the ground pork are such a good combination.
With that, I am going to share with you the procedures on how to make it, so you can also try it yourself. I am getting hungry while typing, so let's begin.
Ingredients needed:
Banana, Ground Pork, Flour or Cornstarch, Oil and Seasonings ( onions, garlic, peepers, salt, and soy sauce)
Given that all ingredients stated above are prepared:
First. Get the bananas, specifically saba or Cardaba banana. Make sure it's already ripe, not too ripe, just an average.


Second. Peel off the skin of each banana and set aside the peeled banana. Cut each banana at the center or the curved portion. Only a small cut that a filling can fit inside.
Third. After cutting all the bananas, on the other hand, prepare to cook the ground pork. The ground pork will serve as the filling for the banana. After a while, put the ground pork in and stir well. Let it set for a while and have it seasoned with the seasonings to improve the taste.


Fourth. Cook the ground pork for 5–10 minutes, just check it and still well to avoid overcooking it. Taste the ground pork. If it is all good for your taste, then it's good to serve. Set aside and let it cool.
Fifth. While waiting for the ground pork to cool, prepare a mixture of flour or cornstarch and water. The consistency should be like this, not too watery to fully cover the filling. Putting food coloring is optional.
Sixth. Start putting the filling on the banana, just open the cut you made and insert the ground pork. After that, zip it with the flour or cornstarch mixture. Do it to the rest of the banana.
Seventh. On the other hand, heat the oil in the pan. Since it needs to be deep-fried, use a deep pan. Once the oil is heated, gently put the banana in the pan. Fry each of the bananas at medium heat and check them not to overcook. Golden brown is a good sign it is already cooked.


Eight. Once all sides of the banana are cooked, you can remove it from the pan.Drain the excess oil and let it cool.Serve your banana meat. For me, I like to eat while it is still hot. Enjoy your Banana Meat. Happy eating, Yum! Yum!
Aside from that, it is really delicious with its unique taste. It is very quick and easy to make. With just a few ingredients, you can level up your banana. My fellow Dalaguetenons (people living in Dalaguete) made them as snacks; other people prefer to have them as meals.
