RE: Caramelized Fig, Feta, and Biltong Pasta: A Quick Lunch Recipe

in Foodies Bee Hive6 months ago

I have seen in my brother, who lives in the UK, how pale he has gotten since living there. You don't realise how big of an impact the sun has on your life unless you live without it for a while! Dangerous stuff if you don't get all of the vitamins in through your diet and environment.

Oh my, so it is not just a South African problem, haha! It really gets bad, as in the summer the houses traps heat, and in the winter it insulates the cold. Never in balance!

Sort:

Yes, you know first hand then.
Some don’t realise… the sun has more benefits than just light. We need it to survive.

No… a lot more countries have this problem. I would say all of the Mediterranean countries have this problem with the houses. Summer and winter… like you say no balance. I know first hand.
Probably more across the pond too.

Not the best when your house, the place that should keep you warm in the winter and cold in the summer does the opposite! But such is life.

For sure, the sun is so important, from the Vitamin D to the crops it grows. And its impact on our moods as well. I know for sure when there is overcast for more than two days in a row, I already feel demotivated in some sense.

Keep well!

No it isn’t. Along the Mediterranean the houses are build for holidays. Not for permanent living. But since all the expats moved to them… they suddenly realise. It is not the paradise they thought it would be when they visited in the summer.
Such is indeed live.

The days are getting shorter and shorter here. Don’t think I ever get used to it.
Let’s hope the daytime we get will bring a lot of sun ☀️
It is very grey the last days and dark at 14:30h now.

I so understand.

Thank you, I will. Keeping myself busy hahaha.
Today a chimney man comes… let’s see what he does or says. No idea hahaha
!LOL

I'm glad I know sign language
It's pretty handy.

Oh that realisation must not be a good one!

I understand the problem, as we humans crave the sunlight! We hate the dark haha.

Best of luck, especially in keeping busy!

Have a splendid weekend!

No, it isn’t. You see many expats or retired people moving back home before 2 years.

We so do. Hahaha although one can make it really cosy with candles and little fairy lights everywhere.
So you get a warm golden light in the living spaces.

Thank you so much. I started painting the living room walls antic old white. It has a yellow hue in it. Previous owners had painted some walls dark grey. It made it too dark. So I am changing it to lighten it all up.

Have a wonderful week!

Light colour paint can really do a room good! Some of these dark colours lead to depressive thoughts after a while. Unless it is a black chalk wall for a creative mind that wants to scribble and draw on it!

I can only imagine, some people are so used to what they have at home. I always think back at my brother living in the UK with their heated homes, and then back here in South Africa where the homes are the exact opposite. Such a hard thing to cope with actually haha.

Have a spending new week!

I love colours… and every wall I could paint in nice warm colours. Here the living room had such dark areas. Especially now we don’t have much daylight. I had to make them as light as possible. Finished… and it is looking really good now.

It does help with the positive thoughts too.
If I would stay longer here I would paint murals on some of the walls… let my creativity flow 🎨 but we know we are nit staying. So I better don’t start.
Chalk black is pretty cool in the kitchen. One could play with it a lot. I

Yes, it is such a difference. The complete opposite in many ways.

Thank you kindly, have a fantastic new week too 👋🏻😊

Oh, that reminds me! I need to have a black chalk walk in my kitchen when I move into a permanent place; that will make cooking even more fun.

And for sure, it is amazing what colours can do to one's emotions. It does not help to paint things dark and morbid.

Keep well, and happy new week!
