My high school friend opens a new cafe in her church compound so my another friend and I have planned a long time to patronize her place to catch up with her and to show support too!
Liminal
Okay my friend Adrienne is very crafty with her hands, whether it is baking or arts and craft. She was my secondary school friend who also was my university friend. We both graduated from Biotechnology but ended up not practising it hehehe.
Well she has been baking a lot and I always admire her baking end products. They look so good and I do know she takes in orders for them till she opens up a cafe to sell them.
So my another hometown friend and I thought we must check it out. Our plan got a little delayed because my family was sick in December but so glad we managed to finally find her at her place. I broke my sugar fast as I have been controlling my sugar intake this pregnancy but I had a cheat day to visit her cafe!
We ordered 3 different pastries because we decided to try them all. First is a Florentine. It has 3 layers in it, so it is quite interesting. The florentine snack I know has only one layer but this has 3. It has a nuts layer, a chocolate layer at the bottom and snadwiches another layer of something else in between. Sorry I cannot remember what it was, forgive my shrunk brain in pregnancy.
Next was the puffs!!!! Oh dear the puffs! Some people refer this as choux I think. I have always seen her making this on her social media and I was so looking forward to it.
She had lemon flavoured cream and also coffee flavoured that day. We had one of each. The lemon was very refreshing but wait till I tried the coffee flavour. It was soooo good. I don't drink coffee but this was amazing!
The last we ordered was a cempedak cake. Cempedak is our local fruit, jackfruit. I don't always see this in regular cafes often but she makes them!!!! I could taste the bits of the jackfruit in it and it was very tasty!
I ordered a very good lemonade while my friend had Pu'er tea. I love my lemonade so much and my friend said her pu'er tea was very fragrant and nice too!
It was nice catching up with old friends talking about the recent things happening to us. I enjoyed the slow afternoon together!
Guess who were the cashiers when we were about to pay?? Her two lovely sons!
Do check up their Instagram page and find out more about Liminal's update. They do bake their own Chinese New Year and Christmas cookies as well as taking orders for sourdough loaves on weekends! My friend and I are planning to get some CNY cookies from them as well!
Super love this piece of featured wall at the cafe!
