It was an interest experience when I took a vacation this weekend. It's far from luxury but it's very relaxi and a great way to get away from work. I really feel like this is something i need to do if burn out comes.

Brastagi is a highland area in North Sumatra, not far from the capital, Medan. It's only 1 hour and 30 minutes away but sometimes it can take much longer time if traffic. The highlands are indeed a favorite for city people look for a short getaway. Moreover the road is one way which is incredibly annoying, isn't it?

Then in the morning, we have already rushing to find a good breakfast. But on the way, we found some delicious-looking grilled corn at a simple stall right next to a row of horses for rent for riding and walking around the park. The price was cheap, enough for a photo for your social media feed.

It was corn and a glass of filtered sugarcane juice, brown in color but very sweet because I asked for no ice cubes. We were looking for something warm like grilled or boiled corn, but they gave us the option to eat it effortlessly. While we were eating, someone offered us some sweet and sour black mulberries. They're native to the area, not imported.

After explore the park, which boasts many horses, we head to the restaurant the name is "Gundaling Farmstead Restaurant." Not many people know about this restaurant cause consider its high price tag in menu. However, I think it's worth it for the delicious food, stunning views, good atmosphere, and fve star hospitality.

We order local dishes from the Karo Regency, like Ayam Tasak Telu (fried chicken with telu) and Kecombrang Beef, which had unexpected flavors. The spices were perfectly balanced, though they tended to be overly flavorful, as local Karo cuisine is so unique.

But, this is my meal in Brastagi... So blessed for enjoying this weekend.
