Pan Fried Crystal Momo Recipe

in Foodies Bee Hive3 months ago (edited)

Hello everyone!
I am here to share an amazing recipe and believe me it's easy, quick and mouthwatering. I'm a momo lover or you may also know them as dimsum. Is a popular straight food in India, Nepal, Tibet and Bhutan. They are quite famous in Nepal and now everywhere in the world. I have shared a blog earlier regarding momo recipe but when I keep making my favourite dish again and again I try to make them healthier so this time I have used the outer layer of cabbage as a cover for momos. Mostly in restaurants and streets you will see them made up of refined flour which is not healthy for your gut. There are different type of momos such as vegetable momos chicken momos chase momos tandoori momos and chocolate momos. The feeling is different in each case but mostly the procedure to prepare them is same. Momos are extremely famous in Nepal and they even celebrate a function where different types of momos are prepared.

So let's start preparing them with simple ingredient.

Ingredients

Half Cabbage
2 Carrot
2 Onion
4 tps Oil
2 tps Cumin seeds
2 tps Salt
3 cup Hot Water
2 tps Coriander powder

These are some of the very basic ingredients that we require to prepare the feeling of the momo as well as the outer layer.

Procedure

First thing first wash the ingredients properly and then chop them properly. You can add as much as vegetables you want according to your taste.

Now we need to add some water in a big pan and then let it boil ball for 5 minutes. Seperate the outer covers of the cabbage and wash them properly and dip it in the boiling water.

This way it will become soft and it will lose all the uncooked taste and it will become a easier for us to fold the vegetable mixture inside it.

Keel them boiling for 10 minutes until the leaves become transparent but make sure to not boil them more than that cause they will break out into pieces.

These are the vegetables that I have chopped and you can also add more vegetables according to your taste. This time we will Pan fry the momos as so there for the mixture should be soft enough and it should be good enough so we need to prepare a tadka. For tadka add oil in a pan let it heat or 2 minutes. Add cumin seeds and onions and all the chopped veggies some salt and spices.

This is how the vegetable mixture will look after sometime and make sure to not cook it more than 5 minutes.

IMG-20250919-WA0060.jpg

Take out the outer covering of the cabbage that we have boiled earlier and fill it with the vegetable mixture and try to wrap it around properly.

These are my attempts of doing it you can do better than me and just mentioning, Iam also preparing it for the very first time.

Now there are two ways to prepare it you can either boil them for 5 minutes in a steamer or you can pan fry them. I choose to Pan fry them cause it's my first time preparing them so I didn't want to boil them as it may happened that the outer layer may break out.

I have added 3 tablespoons of oil over the pan let them fry for 5 minutes until day turn brownish are crunchy.
