Hello foodie lovers of this amazing foodies bee hive community. My last post about squid had lots of comments that they like it so today, I'm gonna share again a squid recipe which is very known as a street food also, we locally named it calamares. It's already seven in the evening when we decided to think of a dinner. So we tried a luck in going to the nearest fish vendor and we are so surprised seeing a pile of giant squid. Since it was long time, I think it's a week we haven't eaten it so we bought only half a kilo of giant squid. And while we are heading home we are thinking what's the best for it. The last time we had squid is we had adobo so tonight we wanted to have squid calamares.
When we arrived home, he then cleaned the parts of it. Remove the inside part of it. Then slice it into tiny pieces so it will be cooked fast and it will add a number of quantity. It is so white and slimy.
Then he set the mixture. It only needs flour, one egg, salt, pepper then mix the cleaned squid. Mix it well making sure all parts of the squid is coated with the mixture. He'll do the cooking this time because he is good at it.
After making sure it's already set. We just heated an oil in the pan and deep fry all of it. Making sure it's golden brown when you removed it in the pan. Golden brown signals crunchy taste in the outside but very tender in the inside.
Then I prepare the sauce while he is busy frying everything. This is just onions, lots of onions sliced in very tiny pieces. It also best to go with chili. Then lots of vinegar. Optional for this is salt. When the calamares is salty you don't have to put salt on the sauce but if the calamares is bland you have to put salt on the sauce. Then just mix it and it's ready!
After making the sauce and frying the squid, I get two plates of rice and had our dinner. The kids love it so much. It looks like they enjoy it as a snack. Thank you to my husband for making simple foods delicious. Thank you so much hivers for reading my post. This is the end and see you next time❤
