Hello foodie lovers. Who likes seafoods here especially prawns? What recipe can you make out of it? In my case base on what is available in my kitchen today I made fried prawns with tomato and gravy for our breakfast and Filipino pansit with prawns in the lunch time.
This is half kilo and I divided this into halves for my two recipes. It costs 280 pesos for a half kilo of prawns. It is really expensive here in the island because it is imported from the main island which is 1 hour away by a shuttle. I clean the prawns and remove the unnecessary parts of it like its sharp and long gills using a scissor.
Then I prepare the ingredients for my first recipe:
1 onion
5 cloves of garlic
1 piece of tomato
1 tablespoon of all purpose flour
prawns
salt
msg
soy sauce 1 cup
vinegar 2 teaspoon
sugar 1 teaspoon
water 2 cups
First thing to do is to Sautee garlic until it turns golden brown.
Then followed by the onions.
When the onion an garlic is done I added the shrimp,
Then I add the first soy sauce. Just a little so it won't get salty on first taste.
Then next the vinegar as well. Just a little amount just to make the odd smell to be melted.
then the most important seasoning is the msg. hahaha I don't know why but if there is an msg the food will be more delicious.
when the shrimp is turning pinkish add the 2 cups of water.
Add the tomatoes and little amount of sugar.
Then add the mixture of water and all purpose flour. This makes the dish having a gravy texture.
Just low heat and after 2 minutes here it goes.
Then lets go to the 2nd recipe which is our lunch. This is the filipino famous pansit with prawns.
The ingredients are:
onion
garlic
soy sauce
vinegar
salt and msg
shrimp broth
pansit/fresh noodles
cabbage
fried shrimp
Cooking time: As a fundamental rule, sauté garlic, onion and tomatoes.
Then add the fried shrimp. I fried it first so when its cooking time it is more faster.
Then add the broth. the broth is when I fried the shrimp and add little water and collected it before I deep fry the shrimp.
Then the fresh noodles. There are so many kinds of fresh noodles and this one is called pansit which is not salty.
then add the vegetable which is the cabbage. There are so many vegetables you can mix with this recipe such as Baguio beans and carrots.
mix it well and it is ready to serve after 2-3 mins in a medium heat.
Just a little trivia here1
Pansit is a very famous and common dish in the Philippines. This is not only served during meals but also on some important occasions, like birthdays, weddings and parties. Wherever restaurant you go, you always find a fresh noddle related recipe with different kind of versions. Mine here is the simplest hahaha.
Being a mom, I think the hardest part is to think of what will be the viand three times a day and for me I am not really good at cooking. But I always tried my best for them.
By the way that's all for today foodie hivers. Thank you so much for your interest in reading my blogs.
