Hello wanderers! This is me Marinel, (minelwanders20) sharing with you a simple tips on how to cook or prepare a tasteful Maja Blanca treat. This is one of the dessert I prepared during Christmas Eve. Since I loved dessert very much, I took all the courage and strength to make one. Maja Blanca is always on the table during holiday season or even there's a celebration or family gathering at home. It is must requested dessert in the family since it is one of our favorites. So let me start my sharing tips blog for today.
Maja Blanca is a classic Filipino dessert that is most awaited during birthdays, parties, celebration or in any occasions. It's smooth creamy texture and fine sweetness make it a comforting and satisfying treat. If your curious how to make this very tasteful dessert, first is you must prepare all the necessary ingredients.
Need to prepare:
- 200g coconut milk
- 1 cup cornstarch
- 1 cup evaporated milk
- 1 cup condensed milk
- 2 cup water
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 can whole kernel corn (optional, for added texture)
- 1 can creamy corn (optional, for added texture)
- 1/2 cup grated cheese (optional, for topping)
Instructions to finally cook your desirable dessert.
Prepare a Tupperware or any bowl for mixture.
- In the bowl, pour all the contents of the evaporated milk can.
- Slowly pour the cornstarch until the entire 1 cup is added.
- Then mix it well with the evaporated milk until the mixture is fully dissolved and free of lumps.
- Set aside.
Prepare Your Cooking Station.
- Ensure you have a large non-stick saucepan or pot to prevent the mixture from sticking.
- Grease a square or rectangular pan lightly with oil or line it with parchment paper to make it easier to remove the Maja Blanca later.
Cook all the mixtures.
- You will mix all the remaining ingredients here. First, add the coconut milk, followed by the condensed milk, then add 2 cups of water.
- Slowly mix everything to ensure all the ingredients complement each other.
- Next, add 1 can of whole kernel corn and 1 can of creamy corn. Mix thoroughly until all the ingredients are well combined.
- Stir all the ingredients well to ensure everything is evenly combined. Then wait for the mixture to come to a boil.
- Keep stirring continuously and do not leave it unattended to avoid it from sticking to the bottom. Continue stirring until the mixture becomes thick and sticky. That’s the sign that it’s ready to be removed from the heat.
Pour into the Pan
- Once the mixture is thick and smooth, pour it immediately into the prepared pan. Spread it evenly using a spatula.
- You can sprinkle grated cheese on top for a savory twist or toasted coconut flakes for added texture and flavor.
- Allow the mixture to cool slightly before placing it in the refrigerator.
Chill and Set
- Refrigerate the Maja Blanca for at least 2-4 hours or until it is fully set. This helps achieve the firm, sliceable consistency that’s perfect for serving.
