Cheesecakes: An Irresistible Sweet Sin [En-Es]

Yesterday I went out to have a dessert. I needed something sweet again. It had been a while since I enjoyed something like that, and I wanted to give myself the chance to try something different. I was also accompanying a friend who needed to do some shopping. As for me, I’m not obsessed with buying anything during this season. The only important thing is staying focused and solving the issue of finding someone to build an app for me.

Another problem I’ve noticed is that many users tend to compare themselves to others. “They get curated more than I do.” This kind of comment is harmful and destructive. Everyone is a unique human being with their own characteristics and abilities. There is no need to compare ourselves. We only need to focus on building an identity that, over time, becomes recognized.

The place I went to was Bull Market & Brunch. I had been there before, but never to try their desserts or have a cold drink. My friend didn’t know the place; it was the perfect opportunity to show her how pleasant the space and the food were. We decided to sit on the second floor. I noticed they had remodeled the area and changed the pictures and signs.

We arrived at approximately 5:40 p.m., Venezuela time. It was late, so having coffee was not an option (I wouldn’t be able to sleep well afterward). The waitress came upstairs and was very kind. She handed us the menus. Without thinking much, I said I hated QR menus and menus without pictures. I love physical menus; that's part of the magic of going out to eat. Now everything is sold as automation—unappealing.

I told my friend we had to try the cheesecakes, since they were the specialty of the place and the reason they had won several regional awards. We asked the waitress which ones were the best. She recommended a cinnamon one; I immediately said no. I like cinnamon, but only in coffee or rustic-style desserts.

My friend chose a Ponche de Crema cheesecake (a Venezuelan holiday drink made with rum and condensed milk). It was a new recipe they were offering for the Christmas season.

I ordered an Oreo, brownie, and chocolate cheesecake. According to the waitress, this was the cheesecake—one of the house specialties. For drinks, we ordered a Nestea and a frozen lemonade. The lemonade was for me. I try as much as I can to avoid sodas and energy drinks. After taking our order, the waitress left. While we waited, we talked and laughed for a while.

About 15 minutes passed. I’m not sure why it took the waitress so long, but she finally brought everything to the table. We were amazed by the cheesecakes—they looked impressive.

The care put into the preparation of both cheesecakes was beautiful. The Ponche de Crema one looked incredibly delicious. I was happy with my Oreo and chocolate cheesecake. Although the decoration wasn’t as pretty, it still looked spectacular and tempting.

Both cheesecakes were fresh. I tasted my friend’s, and it was delicious, but not better than mine. In my opinion, neither of them felt overly sweet. Some desserts are so sugary they end up being unpleasant. Now that I exercise, I try to avoid desserts like that because they simply don’t appeal to me.

Ordering the frozen lemonade was the perfect choice because it helped balance my palate. Between the desert and the drink, I actually enjoyed the drink more. Lately, my body has been craving natural foods and beverages excessively. Both cheesecakes were very good—I can’t deny that.

After enjoying a delicious dessert, I asked for the bill, which came to 18 U.S. dollars. Since I exchanged USDT for bolívares, I ended up paying a little less than 12 dollars in Venezuelan currency.

Cheesecakes: Un Pecado Dulce Irresistible

Ayer salí a comer un postre. Necesitaba algo dulce nuevamente.

Pasaron aproximadamente unos 15 minutos.

Ambos cheesecakes estaban frescos.

Oh boy, what a delicious view! Glad you could make some time to please your sweet tooth. I'm weak, so every other day I have a little homemade snack, which unfortunately doesn't include cheesecake as often as I'd like 😋

Now, as I see it, comparing/contrasting ourselves with others is human nature and one of the many ways we realize virtue, merit, luck, injustice, etc... but I get your point. In fact, my best guess is that “focusing” is such a popular human necessity just because we certainly tend to stray from what really matters frequently and might go about chasing red herrings.

Wishing you a great day!
