Foodies, today I’m going to show you how to make one of the most popular cake recipes out there: sponge cake. Sponge cake has always been a favorite at all my family gatherings. But this time, I want to make a different kind of sponge cake—one with a unique flavor, of course.

Cheese Sponge Cake

Cheese sponge cake is a type of sponge cake made by mixing cheese with several other ingredients, with cheese serving as the main flavor.

This is the first cheese sponge cake I’ve tried making with such an abundance of cheese—even though I used cheddar, the flavor is absolutely fantastic. However, the texture of this cake is denser than other types of sponge cakes. For those of you who’ve never tried cheese sponge cake, I think this is the perfect choice to make at home as a snack to enjoy with tea or coffee while relaxing with your family.

Ingredients

150 grams granulated sugar
4 eggs
1 teaspoon SP
180 grams all-purpose flour
¼ teaspoon vanilla powder
1 teaspoon baking powder
100 grams grated cheese
100 grams melted margarine

Instructions

Beat the eggs, granulated sugar, and SP until stiff peaks form. Don’t forget to add the vanilla powder.

Then add the grated cheese and mix until the cheese is incorporated into the batter.

Gradually add the all-purpose flour while mixing. Don’t forget to add the baking powder; sift both ingredients before adding them.

Next, add the melted margarine and mix until well combined. Pour the batter into a baking pan and sprinkle more grated cheese on top.

Bake in an oven preheated to 180 degrees Celsius using only the bottom heat for 30 minutes, then switch to top and bottom heat for another 30 minutes. You can adjust the baking time according to your oven.

Once it came out of the oven, this cake was absolutely fragrant—its aroma filled the entire room. It felt so great to bake a cheese cake for the first time. Although it didn’t rise very high, at least it turned out well, and I’ll try again later.

The cake is very soft, with a denser texture than a regular sponge cake. I think this is probably because the cheese gives it a denser texture. The taste is absolutely not disappointing—every bite is truly delicious. This treat is perfect as a gift for family or friends to enjoy while relaxing with a cup of coffee at home.
