Making another round of Christmas cookies. Today, Cherry Winks and Chocolate Kisses are both a favorite for sure.
Cherry Winks
Sift Together:
1 1/2 cups of flour
1/2 cup cocoa powder
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon of salt
Blend:
1/2 cup softened butter
1 cup of sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Drain:
1 10-ounce jar of Maraschino cherries - reserve the juice
- After making indents in the dough balls, make the frosting.
Prepare the Frosting
6 ounces of semi-sweet chocolate chips or white chocolate
1/2 cup of condensed milk
4 Tablespoons of the cherry juice
- In a small saucepan, combine the chocolate pieces with the condensed milk; stir until the chocolate is melted. Add the cherry juice stirring until smooth.
Roll the dough into one-inch-sized balls after combining the dry and wet ingredients to make your dough.
Place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Using the back of a small spoon, make an indent in the center of each ball.
Place a cherry into the center and drizzle the frosting on each cookie.
Bake in a preheated oven at 350 degrees F. for approximately 10 minutes until done.
Chocolate Kisses
I had some dough left over after running out of cherries. I decided to fill the centers with Hershey's Chocolate Kisses.
Two more cookies were made for the giveaway trays. Each day will get me closer to the finish line. ;-)
Happy holidays to all the fellow cookie bakers. You can see the first round below.
