It was about time I started using some of the powdered eggs that I had ordered when eggs were going out of sight here in the USA. They have been sitting on the pantry shelf all this time, now since eggs are expensive again, I decided to break open the bag and start using them.
The weather has been cold and raining, so I thought I would stock the freezer with some of my husband's favorites.
I wasn't quite sure what to expect but I couldn't let them stay on the shelf forever. The color and consistency were a bit different, but they smelt like eggs.
I mixed the powder with half water and half milk, then sprinkled some cinnamon into the mix. I made an entire loaf of bread into French toast.
Of course, he was on standby to be the official taste-tester. ;-)
Once all the French toast was cooling on the rack, I put together his favorite "Breakfast Casserole" with another batch of egg powder.
Lastly, I made some scrambled eggs to use with the Egg Fried Rice I was making for dinner to accompany the Teriyaki Salmon.
I especially liked them scrambled with the rice. All-in-all, we both agreed that the powdered eggs were very similar to using fresh. It is nice to have them on the pantry shelf and it will save us some money going forward.
The weather is to be warmer today with part-sun, so I will take advantage and do some more gardening.
Until next time, this is Sunscape
