Having Birthday Fun With Father
I rolled on down with my girl to see my dad for his birthday today. What a day it was. Based off my recommendation, the family tried hotpot and KBBQ for the first time today. What I did not anticipate was the amount of instruction and coordination teaching some noobs would take! Yet, I would not trade anything for the afternoon of seeing their smiling faces and burning meat while distracted.
Our 8 Person Order
Since we fed nearly a platoon of people, many of which who had not had this sort of food before, Mel and I elected to order the Chef’s Favorite Set. It included:
- Skirt Steak
- Spicy Marinated Pork Belly
- Spicy Calamari
- Kimchi Stew
- Beef Bibimbap
And that was just the barbecue. For hotpot, the set didn't stop there:
- Premium Angus Prime Rib
- Premium Chicken Breast
- Hand-made Meatballs
- Veggies
- White rice & vermicelli
Two of us opted for Summer Rolls of Sushi, too.
The Review
I mean, the expressions we captured could be all a reader needs to know that the meal was as expensive as it was delectable. It was worth it, though, to offer my dad some spicy calamari that we crisped to a near burn. He still liked it, despite its chef work. I was even surprised my mom enjoyed the kimchi pancake at all- she has her moments of selective behavior. My brother doesn’t bite when it comes to sushi, but I saw him snapping up chicken and beef like nothing else. My sister, ever the international cuisine queen, didn’t help in explaining things to our first-timers but she did indulge in a matcha-crème cake for dessert.
I’d say my father’s celebration was a satisfying success. He also loved my little gift I found in my second-hand haul not too long ago, Everything and a Kite by Ray Romano. Between you and me though, I’m glad birthdays are once a year, because a restaurant like this one you can’t visit so often. Maybe I find him more books next year…
