When you think of Japanese seafood, sushi often comes to mind. But many of you could consider a bowl of sushi topping on rice. 大起水産 (Daiki Suisan) can give you that experience - seafood rice bowls (海鮮丼) and grilled dried fish set meals (干物定食). I found this restaurant at a local suburb food court and found they are only in Kansai area. 大起水産 specialises in seafood therefore the items on their menu only contains mostly fresh seafood.
The standard seafood bowl (海鮮丼) has toppings with fresh slices of tuna, salmon, squid, and more. 大漁丼 is a bigger version & 特上海鮮丼 is a more premium version with nicer cuts of fish. If you don’t like fresh fish, there are cooked fish or eel depending on your liking. Rice can be vinegared or plain white , and upsizing is just 50 yen . If you are like me who wants something warm on the side, you can order a clam udon as an addition or miso soup type of option. I ordered the 1000 yens meal which included the rice bowl and udon which was excellent value! Thats around $10AUD
I find the bowls here have generous portions, excellent freshness with a great price. It was a quick meal but it felt like I had very high quality of food which you won’t be able to get this back home that that price and portion. Highly recommended from me!
