Hi Everyone,
If there’s one app I use almost daily in Thailand, it’s GrabFood. Every morning, the first thing I do is get on the app to order breakfast. You can order from local eateries, street vendors to large international brands like Macdonalds, everything can be delivered right to your doorstep. Ordering McDonalds for example on Grab is straightforward. The full menu is listed in English, and Thailand even offers items that is location exclusive, which you can’t get back home. They often bundle special deals, such as discounted meal sets or buy-one-get-one offers, which pop up on the app homepage. Once you have chosen everything, you can pay for it using your card which is already added to the app or Apple Pay as I am on IOS.
What truly makes Grab my go to app here is they even have small local vendors I would never visit normally due to location or we need to sit outside in the hot weather. I can order my favourite Hainanese chicken rice or pork neck with sticky rice and get it delivered on time. The prices on the app is very similar to the prices you pay in store and with the deals on the app, it may be sometimes cheaper.
One perk is the constant stream of discount vouchers, free delivery promotions, and they offer a subscription-based deals called GrabUnlimited. As I order daily, sometimes twice a day if i am hungry late at night, the app will give me a loyalty code or discount for my next order which comes in handy. During peak hours, paying a small extra fee for “Priority Delivery” can halve the wait time. I’ve tested it a few times – my food arrived within 20 minutes instead of 45.
I love this app too much. I wish we had this back home but it will never be possible as our population isn’t dense enough to have this type of business model.
