If you love the Greek cuisine, you will love the Bulgarian as well (Bulgarian Greek eggplant crossover)

in Deutsch D-A-CH22 hours ago

Was sagt ihr dazu? Wart ihr schon mal in Bulgarien? Wie hat euch das Essen dort gefallen?

Bulgarian Eggplant Greek Style as served at the Kristal Restaurant in Ruse, Bulgaria

English

I am currently in Bulgaria and am really enjoying the Bulgarian cuisine, which I have come to appreciate very much.

Traditionally, it the Bulgarian cuisine is a mixture of Bulgarian, Greek, and Turkish dishes, although in recent years there has been an increasing trend toward Westernization, including unhealthy fast food.

A typical Bulgarian dish, for example, is stuffed peppers or eggplants, which are often filled with rice and minced meat, but in this more “Greek” version, they are filled with Bulgarian cream cheese (sirene) and tomatoes.

In a good restaurant, a stuffed eggplant costs 16.90 leva, which is about 8.64 euros. Not quite as cheap anymore as it used to be.

What do you think? Have you ever been to Bulgaria? How did you like the food there?

Yes, I also think it's a shame that more and more unhealthy food is finding its way into circulation. Especially in countries that actually have a healthy lifestyle and are getting worse and worse. Unfortunately, I personally have not yet been to Bulgaria. But I will certainly visit it in the future. Hope you have a nice vacation there :D

That dish looks incredible.

As I been every year to Bulgaria (mainly Burgas, but also visited Varna often) I can only confirm - love the food! And some Karmenitza :-)

Yeah Bulgarian food is world-class, love it :)

I've never been to Bulgaria, I wonder how is the meat or fish there, i remember a bit Greek cuisine but never seen the Turkish

Sieht und hört sich sehr lecker an! 😋

That looks really good. Oddly enough, Bulgaria is one of the few countries in the region I haven't visited in the past. Enjoy your trip, can't wait to see some more great pictures!

Sieht gut aus

Never tried a Bulgarian cuisine before, I'm sure it'll be rich and flavorful. The stuffed eggplants with sirene and tomatoes, that's something I've tasted, very delicious.

I really enjoyed reading this! Bulgarian food sounds so rich with different influences, and those stuffed eggplants and peppers made me hungry just imagining them. It’s interesting how traditional meals are changing with the rise of fast food. I’d definitely love to try the local dishes someday.

I have never been to Bulgarian but the foods looks quite nice. I would probably skip this meal since I don't like the taste of eggplant.

The food looks very nice and delicuous
