Nah, this has existed for a long time. But frontends have not implemented it yet (a few months? or is it years ago? time fly). Then the short content posts arrived and this became a no brainer (this also exists on normal posts, and that was visible for a long time).
People may decide to burn author rewards if they do not intend or feel they should be compensated for what they are saying on chain. And/Or if they feel the value of HIVE is too low, and from the pool of rewards that gets generated on every block, Burn them instead of making them go to some other user. It's a choice... and because now most frontends implemented that choice, the context can rapidly change on every comment. Which makes sense, like for example on this one to you, I am not burning any author rewards and if you want to vote for what I am saying, you can.
People can still vote for the comment, and they will receive their curation rewards, but the author ones, I am making the decision, in that particular case, to burn them. I know it does almost nothing in practical terms, but it is a message.

It is food for thought to burn short content rewards as a start. As you say, not that it moves the needle, but it would increase our ability to notice others who are forfeiting rewards for the nominal benefit of HIVE.
It follows that awareness of where HIVE is being burned increases awareness of where it’s being spent.
Yes, hearing that message has been like listening to a broken record. For too long, we’ve been annoyed to hear we’re outspending our means.
Especially in the last 30 days as I co-hosted Hive Thrive discussions & read enough posts on HIVE crypto-nomics written at a professional level, that I see things differently.
I now see a coming crash that can’t be avoided, but we can choose how to land the HIVE plane 🛬
And this can’t happen from the passenger cabin. “Saving HIVE” can only come from urgent decisions made and executed from those in the pilot seats.
I keep helping with building behind the scenes, and I am ZERO afraid! And yes, I would land like a feather :D, and like I have just said today to @shiftrox, once the costs of "running" Hive are eliminated (and that involves costs of people stealing, etc... all the wrong stuff), then naturally HIVE price will rise, and at that time we should be READY! Because it's going to be brutally impactful. So, I am working towards that path.

Eu to indo para as postagens com 75% e 100% HP dependendo do frontend. Sinceramente não vejo como juntar e juntar muito Hive e vender por preço de banana. Agora é juntar e apreciar o futuro se tudo de certo ou afundar de vez com o barco haha
Yep, não vale a pena pensar no preço... agora. Eu estou só a fazer isto para educar o pessoal que não percebe por que é que estas coisas existem.
Eu ainda quero chegar à baleia antes de isto inverter a direcção. Para mim o valor que tenho no chain é muito inferior ao valor que já alguma vez recebi disto (em termos de sabedoria e coisas que aprendes). Por isso para mim, é fácil não pensar muito e continuar a ajudar quem precisa (nas possibilidades que tenho, claro), e juntando o máximo que posso.
As pessoas que já conheci aqui são realmente o que me dá o conforto de continuar... se nunca tivesse conhecido elas, provavelmente não teria o mesmo à vontade (mas deixa-me clarificar que o que realmente me prende aqui é a tecnologia do Hive). Podemos ser poucos... mas somos muito valiosos como comunidade... e isso um dia vai mudar o preço do Hive.
Não porque alguém investe muito mais, mas porque as regras vão alterar e os que nunca perceberam que o que leva mais tempo a construir não é preço mas sim o facto de algo funcionar sem qualquer custo ou perto de qualquer custo. Quando essa marca for alcançada, isto muda tudo de direcção.
E quando eu digo custo, e não falo só do custo de rodar nós, e pagar a electricidade, etc... o custo também são pessoas a vender Hive, e pessoas a tentar saquear Hive para fazerem 10 centimos... ou bots... ou pessoas hackadas... tudo! Quando essas coisas todas forem minimizadas ao ponto de não fazerem diferença, o preço do Hive explode.
Essa é a minha visão...
Super bacana mano, eu também quero isso, crescer, tentar passar para as pessoas que o melhor que podemos fazer é acumular HP, distribuir isso melhor entre todos, com certeza isso fará a diferença hoje e sempre!
