Photos from the eclipse here in sunny England, near Reading. The sun seemed brighter and the light seemed more like twilight and the sun. I reckon if I’d been wearing glasses or had a camera with polariser this photo would have looked more eclipsish. Nonetheless it incredible.

The light does go strange during the eclipse. I was out observing it.

It was sure extraordinary!

I just posted about it. We will not get another like this for a long time here.

Why?

Why what?

About the light, I mean.

I don't know the physics, but it is odd. Maybe something to do with the low light level whilst the sun is still fairly high up. Not something you can capture properly in a photo.

Oh, I see your point now.

It got really dark but there was still some light and the shadows were weird.

I like "weird" shadows. 😌

They’re the best!

I have to agree on that.

Years ago, I was driving the library bookmobile when the Pacific Northwest had a partial eclipse. After a stop to make a delivery at an assisted living facility, I paused to look and listen. The songbirds were singing evening songs, and the dimness, though slight, was strange.

The same kind of thing here the other day. Poor birdies were confused!

Lucky you.
