"From your mouth to our ears."
What's that one medical advice you'll love to share with us?
My advice is: Alcohol and smoking feels good, but the cost of dialysis and chemotherapy is very expensive.

Don't joke with your sleeping time and always stay hydrated. Most headaches, fatigue and the likes reduce/get better when you drink enough water or get enough hours of sleep.
You see sleeping time, most people are ignorant about their sleep schedule. Some are not really ignorant but busy with a lot of things. While some are busy with unimportant things like gaming, movies and some other things that doesn't make sense
One thing I always tell people is to prioritise their sleep no matter what. A good sleep is better than anything and refreshes as well as rests the brain
Yeah. That's so true.
I'm not one to joke with sleep though. I still wonder how some are able to cheat it somehow, unlike saying they want to finish a movie or game or anything before sleeping, me I can't o. I don't even know how to 😜
Another problem people have is taking water. They can eat a very solid food and not drink water as if their body is a machine. Sometimes, I do force some persons around me to take water be ause they don't like to.
Inadequate water intake can cause a variety of problems, including constipation, and even kidney issues sef. Unfortunately, many people know this but they are ignorant to it. The price of dialysis no be here sha
A friend was complaining of headache at work. He wanted to go get paracetamol when I told him not to. "Let me get you a bottle water instead, then you rest your head, paracetamol ain't vitamin c that you can just take anyhow." I told him .
He felt better when he woke up.
True.. even vitamin C, they don't just take it anyhow without prescription.
Anyways, it's good that he heed your advice and felt better. Some persons would ask you - "what does this one know?" And they would go ahead to do what they think is best.
Honestly...
He actually asked him why I told him not to since I'm always the one saying stuffs like, "go to to the hospital, complain at a pharmacy, do checkup...." And the likes. I just smiled and told him that everything is not pills at times.
True. Most times, lifestyle changes is all we need to correct some things.
The dangers of self medication is quite overwhelming and if everyone can avoid that, I bet there will be less cases of extreme health conditions all around.
Visit the hospital, seek out the practitioners and follow their subscription ❤️.
You see this self medication? It's a very big problem in the society. I don't know for other countries, but Nigerians are fond of this. If someone have elevated temperature, body aches and some certain signs and symptoms, the first thing they would do is to give the
Is to give the person malaria medicine without even consulting with a medical practitioner. This is one of the reasons why people grow resistance to certain antibiotics because they don't follow the principles of medication administration, most especially, antibiotics
Still in self medication, another group of people that are fond of this are medical practitioners. Yes, we preach against self medication, but we hardly seek better management. I think its probably due to the feeling that we know what is wrong with us or something
But then, it's really important to seek expert care irrespective of whether or not you're a medical professional
You really hit the nail on the head!
Growing up, self medication was literally all I knew almost to a point that I began perceive there were no such thing as hospitals.
Probably because a good percentage of illnesses show up with fever as a symptom and that draws up the conclusion of it being a malaria. Otherwise, typhoid.
Of course, I won't hold a grudge against my mum for that cause heaven knows she meant well ❤️.
Eventually getting resistant to drugs due to self medication is one of the many reasons I refuse to indulge in it. Personally.
"Of course, I won't hold a grudge against my mum for that cause heaven knows she meant well"
It's wise of you not to hold it against her. Mothers a very protective of their children, and sometimes, they can be overprotective.
In the course of trying to do what's best for their children, mothers may be doing more harm without realising it. It's a nice one that you don't hold it against her. You were raised well
First of, how do you manage to type these long text on snaps without getting a notification that you have 20 words remaining?
Anyways:
"Growing up, self medication was literally all I knew almost to a point that I began perceive there were no such thing as hospitals."
Imagine the wrong perspective you were developing. It's a good thing that you had a change of perspective
Prevention is better than cure. It is also cheaper than being admitted in the hospital for treatment.
Don't wait until your body collapse before taking your health serious.
Also go for checkups. Don't avoid it because you're scared.
Prevention is absolutely better than cure. Early detection and diagnosis has saved a lot of people from diverse medical complications.
The most unfortunate thing is that people are actually scared of the hospital
I once asked someone why they don't go for check up and they said that if they go, the doctors would definitely find out that something is wrong with them. They said that it's better to live without knowing that something is wrong, rather than being scared
This is another thing we as health workers need to work on. Welp, all we can do is to give health education on the importance of going for regular medical check up. We can't force them to come.
Going for routine check is very important,we don't have to wait till we get really sick before taking care of our health .
True. We really need to attend regular check up irrespective of how much it costs. It's better to be on the safe side and prevent illness than to spend millions trying to cure a preventable illness that can be detected with early detection
Your body like a car, your brain is the engine. When your brain is affected, your body becomes useless automatically. Make sure you rest when your brain tells you to, don't force it to work when its time for rest.
This is a very important advice. Rest when need be. Don't overdo things or overwork yourself. Stay away from drug and substance abuse and psychoactive substance.
