Ooooo fun times! I've recently been thinking about doing the same, although I dad already has one it's a very early model, prints well but it much slower than modern printers.
I looked years ago, but they are cheaper and more reliable now. I just have to find room for it.

I think it's the same old story: some amazing long posts don't get the right value, while other shorter or lower-quality posts get higher values.

They were very happy and never wanted assistance, but they needed it more than they could think.

I tend to be on my phone so I like iOS apps. Also I like short form because it lets us get to know each other in back and forth easier than blogs. I’ll still blog 3-5 times a week but this may be my home now

When the masses realize how amazing Hive is, they'll come here and ruin it. Enjoy it while it's enjoyable.
How will they ruin it? Vested stake is limited whether you post memes or long high effort blog pieces.
People, generally, are stupid, and want awful things. If 'the masses' come to Hive, they will turn Hive into another Facebook, or Twitter, or Insta, or whatever.
It's not just the algorithm that makes these web2 spaces terrible, it's the people on them.
Hive is a database that stores text and data so let people post whatever they want, if this is the content that market demands let it be. Limiting Hive to a “either blog 1000 words minimum or you’ll get downvoted for low effort” mindset is a mistake.
The masses won't be blogging at all, just leaving shitty comments and arguing about everything.

HE.. while recently it has had some positive improvements that have made it more stable... it just really needs a LOT of work that it just isn't going to get unless someone does it for free. It's been in maintenance mode for the last 3+ years I doubt it's going to get better soon
Yeah, Hive Engine is too fragile. It's way too easy for people to make it unusable for a while. I had to move a ton of DEC over and I've been afraid to try it. I did it in chunks. Now I'm afraid to swap it.

"thank you's"
in their own posts, literally all they do.
Is it just me or does that irk anyone else? It's very much "take" and very little "give" vibes imo.
I also do it sometimes, but it depends on the comment. Half the comments I get are just Beautiful shots or nice photographs. There's not much I can reply to that besides thank you! If someone really read the text and gave me more than nice shots, I reply with more depth too.
you're here replying to someone else so compared to my example youre doing way more than they did already, they just reply to comments on their own posts.
For photo posts it's understandable that comments and replies can be short!

I wouldn't say it's theft but I'd argue they don't deserve as much rewards as they get if they make it all about themselves.
They're using their vp to stabilise hbd, they could curate posts instead but choose that this is more important atm with some of their stake.
Does the effort really deserve $250 per click? Yup, just 10 simple clicks earns $2500
curation rewards don't have the same caliber of effort required as author rewards, they could also simply trail another voter for instance and end result is the same.

that is sad to say how some people are just gaming the system although there are instances too that only a "thank you" is needed for a reply
I think its the same on other socials too however so nothing hive-only, it's like they do the bare minimum to pretend to be social but don't care to consume other people on an equal footing as them content and effort wise
It does irk me depending on if it's all they do and if they could have easily replied with more substance. Some posts or comments there really isn't much to be said in reply.

That's a good question. Usually, when I see clouds like that, I become very reflective about life, with many thoughts. It may be that this really does have some effect on us.
It's a bit sad that many very active hivers & witnesses aren't that active socially, especially on snaps/waves.
I agree, Snaps is where you'll see users you didn't know existed and the type of short content they share gives you a better view of the effort they are really putting into their longer content. This is where we come together as a larger community, but that's not happening

Some I understand are quite busy building things, but some I kind of suspect barely check in here on a daily basis. Still throwing a couple votes or comments here and there wouldn't be a big ask, I'm sure they spend time on their phones daily.

I have lived both - Single and relationship life. The feeling of "someone is out there if we call and visit and travel with" is for some reason unable to replace or fix. I feel depression is more manageable in "relationship".

I imagine my fear (being alone forever, no one wanting me), and try to believe it and accept it. I sit with it as long as it takes to accept. Then I say “fuck that!” And go back to living my life with optimism.
