Just for the record... It's not something known a priori that it will be in a certain year, but instead because the conditions that usually form an El Niño have been met. Even if we know it's something cyclic, it's still very irregular.

There are all kinds of climate cycles with different time frames that converge and diverge. It's never just one thing.
