🌴 Day 2 Diary on Koh Phangan: From Home Kitchen to the Joyfully Bustling Pantip Market 🍛

Today marks day 2 since I moved to Koh Phangan, a place many dream of visiting. For me, today, this is home, and the start of a new chapter in my life—simple yet full of energy.
Today, I'll let the photos tell the story and express my feelings.
⏰ Starting the day at 4 AM
My routine begins early in the morning. The clock struck 4:00 AM, and I woke up refreshed to help my mother prepare Thai food to sell at Pantip Market. But before heading out to do my daily activities, I wanted to spend this quiet morning composing and documenting my daily life for you all to read, as a way to record the wonderful memories of each day.
🍳 ### The Backyard is a Kitchen of Love
Around 6 am, I headed to my mother's house to get ready. My father, a true professional, handled the ingredient selection. He'd already gone to the fresh market and stopped by the supermarket on the island to buy high-quality fresh produce.
My job was to take over from my father, washing, chopping, and preparing the ingredients before passing them on to the "head chef," my mother. She's like the chef, overseeing the flavors and deliciousness. The aroma of Thai food filled the kitchen – various stir-fried vegetables, hot soups, spicy curries, Tom Yum soup, and rich Southern Thai coconut milk curries.
🎪 ### Heading to Pantip Market
Around 11:00 AM, when all the food was ready, my grandchildren helped push the cart to set up our stall in Pantip Market, a bustling indoor market full of tourists. Upon arrival, we quickly arranged the food in containers to make it look appealing. Besides helping with sales, I enjoyed "presenting Thai menus" to foreigners, letting them experience and taste our local cuisine. Most of our customers were tourists, ordering both rice dishes and takeout. The atmosphere was fun because we worked together as a family – parents, children, and grandchildren – taking turns helping out continuously.
✨ ### A Surprise at Pantip Plaza
When Old Friendships Reunited
Besides the fun-filled hustle and bustle of preparing Thai curry dishes, one thing that made my heart swell with joy today was meeting old friends.
Pantip Plaza truly felt like a gathering place. I had the opportunity to meet many familiar faces. The moment our eyes met, the joy overflowed, and I couldn't contain it. Everyone greeted me with their familiar smiles.
But what touched me most was that many of my friends still remembered my old restaurant. They still asked about the old flavors and said they still missed my cooking.
Those words were like nourishment to my heart. Knowing that what I had planned to do in the past is still in their memories and brings happiness to others is a tremendous positive energy that gives me the strength to open a new restaurant here on Koh Phangan.
Today wasn't just about selling things; it felt like reconnecting with old friendships. Thank you so much to all my friends for still thinking of me. It's the most heartwarming feeling ever! ❤️🌴
🌙 Final mission and first trip to Super Cheap.
We helped each other until around 10 PM. Even though we were tired, we felt so fulfilled. But my mission as a mom isn't over yet, because tomorrow is my daughter's first day of school. No matter how late it is, I have to hurry and buy all the necessary supplies for her. Tonight was my first time visiting Super Cheap, the famous convenience store with a branch on Koh Phangan. The atmosphere inside was spacious and they had everything I needed. It was a new experience on a long but happy night.
My life on Koh Phangan may seem simple: wake up, work, relax, but it's the happiness of being with my family and sharing my mother's delicious cooking with the world.
