Introvert Talks - Tell Me What You Have Done

"Introvert Talks" is meant to be a new initiative or theme, where I myself as an introvert, just talk about reflections and thoughts about my life, or maybe share more personal stuff. :)

This is my weekly post under this "Introvert Talks" theme and let's see where it takes me and us.

18 days since my last Introvert Talks post, and finally, the introvert is back! :P

When I first started this series, I had meant for it to be weekly, but at the same time, I didn't want to make it so forced as well. If there was nothing interesting or meaningful to share, I didn't feel a need to pressure myself to squeeze something out. Another reason was because I had taken some time from Hive lately and channelling the extra time to get more exercise, which was in line what I mentioned in the earlier post here, i.e. putting my health first. So I hope this provides some explanation if anyone is wondering why I haven't been doing this for a while, the weekly frequency just serves as a reference point since writing on Hive is more of a hobby to me.

With that out of the way, let's dive into what I wanted to talk about this week!

So this morning, I was going through the news as usual, and I chanced upon this news from who else...but Elon Musk. Basically, if you have been following the news, there is this whole DOGE (Department of Government Efficiency) thing over in US, which I don't think I am in a position to comment on, since I am not an American. Anyway, the headline news today was about an email being sent to US Federal employees, asking them to reply with 5 bullet points of what they have accomplished last week. I mean, as expected, the reactions are quite diverse.

Regardless, it got me thinking if I could apply this question to myself in my personal life. It's been almost 2 months into 2025, how would I answer if I would to ask myself to list 5 bullet points of what I have accomplished in 2025 so far?

And it got me thinking... So in no order of importance, here goes!

1. I have increased my exercise sessions.

Like what I mentioned earlier, I decided to put in more effort to exercise this year because I wanted to prioritise my health as I start to grow older by the day. That wasn't an easy decision because I am not very active physically and my life is pretty busy. So if you have read some of the entries, I actually did a deep dive into how I spent my time on a typical week and then find ways to squeeze out time and (reluctantly) de-prioritise other aspects of my life. I haven't really seen any major changes in my weight, but like what they say, every journey begins with a small step, and I have started my steps.

2. I have continued to contribute in my role at work.

There's not much to share about this point, but I think every single assignment that I have completed or given my input is a worthy contribution to my team and my organisation, so I think that qualifies as a point which I accomplished.

3. I have continued to grow my savings/portfolio.

Sometimes, the boring stuff matter more than the fancy stuff. I have continued to spend within my means, and with the monthly salary and some interest/dividends, I have continued to accumulate my savings and do some DCA investments for my portfolio. Again, it's nothing fancy and pretty routine, but in my view, every dollar counts, and we let the compounding effect do the work.

4. I have continued to spend my time with family and loved ones whenever I can.

With work in the picture, it's always a tricky juggle to balance this aspect. I have always prioritised family and loved ones as much as possible, because after all, we are all replaceable and dispensable at work. But situations are not always straightforward sometimes, and we just have to manage. As my parents grow older by the day, I just hope that I can spend more time with them.

5. I am still active on Hive!

It's a Hive post so the final point has to be about Hive! It's been more than 3 years since I last joined the Hive community in Sep 2021 and I am still around! I might not have stuff to post about every day (I really respect those who are able to produce quality content day in day out), but I do try to be online everyday, whether it's just to curate, to read, to comment or to post. Am learning so many new things, am making so many new friends! It's not always easy to make time I must confess, such as staying up late (after a long work day) to do these things, but it has made me realise that if you are passionate about something and if you enjoy doing something, you will prioritise it and make it happen.

Alright, so that's the 5 bullet points for my 2025 so far! Ending off with an upbeat song that I really enjoy. It's "Marchin On" by OneRepublic, which is apt since March is coming up soon. Haha. Lame joke I know. So, thanks for reading and let's continue to march on for the rest of the year!
