Even on my rare weekend off, I find something to work upon. I did have plans to spend the entire weekend with my Mom, but she's also spending time helping my grandparents with certain tasks they're not able to accomplish. Thus, I helped with a bit of housework (as much as my Mom would let me do lol), and got to work on updating my curriculum vitae - which is like an expanded resume in the academic community - and a cover letter for a job I'm considering once I graduate. This is my first cover letter, so I'm meticulously drafting it out and will be reviewing it before sending it off this coming week.
Here's a tip: an easy way to differentiate yourself from the crowd is to have an error-free CV and cover letter (most people either don't send cover letters at all, have errors in their document, or both). Proofread, people!
So there it is... I picked up a Thursday shift from my colleague, and now, even in my rare weekend off, I just seem to find a way to keep busy. I thought I'd do this during the week, but instead started on it today. Am I actually a workaholic?
There was some hobby stuff that I had planned to do over the weekend, but it might not happen. My next full weekend will be in 4 weeks, when I'm on vacation from my job, during which time I'll primarily be studying. I'll definitely engage in my hobbies at that time, to some degree, but it would've been cool if I did it this weekend as well. It's a time-consuming hobby when I do it the right way, hence I only want to begin if I can do it properly. We'll see.
Tomorrow I'll probably also announce the October Monthly Engagement & Promotion Contest winners - the final set. I'm sure most people have forgotten it by now, but I do still want to stick by finishing my commitments to the community, even if belated. There's value in integrity.
