Hello everyone!!
Have a great and blissful day to all!! 😊
I promised @leannwithdoublen that I would cook "tofu sisig" after seeing her delicious tofu recipe here. Yes, this recipe was inspired by @leannwithdoublen. So, this is for you, my dear friend, and, of course, for everyone here on Hive.
However, it's not a plain tofu sisig recipe because I combined it with chicken. My sister and nephew came to our house for my nephew's school project, which was a large painting, so he asked for help from my daughter @tegoshei. I already thought that he would not eat tofu, so I combined it with chicken. But to make sure that he had something to eat that he really liked, I prepared a backup dish for him, too, and that was fried chicken tenders.
So please come and let's make chicken - tofu sisig.
My Original Style Chicken - Tofu Sisig
INGREDIENTS:
I couldn't take a photo of all the ingredients because I got busy, and we bought some of them while I had already started cooking.
- Chicken Fillet
- Tofu
- Green Chili
- Red Chili
- Onion
- Mayonnaise
- Soya Milk
- Egg
- Garlic Powder
- Ground Black Pepper
- Knorr Liquid Seasoning
- Magic Sarap Seasoning
- Cheese
- Canola Oil
- Soy Sauce
- Kalamansi
PREPARATION:
Pat dry the tofu with a kitchen towel or tissue. Then, slice or cut the tofu into cubes.
Rub some mixed powdered spices, such as ground black pepper, garlic powder, and a pinch of salt, into the sliced tofu and set aside.
Wash and then cut the chicken fillet into cubes.
Then marinate with soy sauce, a little Knorr liquid seasoning, ground black pepper, and garlic powder, and set aside.
Peel and wash the onions and then set aside.
Wash and slice green and red chilies into small pieces.
Now, let's make the sauce...
In a clean bowl, add 1/2 cup of mayonnaise, Knorr liquid seasoning, a little soy sauce, a little white sugar, and a squeeze of 1/2 piece of kalamansi juice. Mix well and then set aside.
COOKING TIME:
Heat some canola oil in a pan or cooker.
Fry the sliced tofu until all are finished. Transfer all the fried tofu to a plate lined with a kitchen towel to absorb excess oil. Then, set aside.
In the same pan and with the remaining cooking oil, fry the sliced chicken until finished. Transfer the fried chicken onto a plate with a kitchen towel, as with the tofu. Then, set aside.
After cooling down, wash and clean the pan or cooker. Then, heat a tiny amount of canola oil again. You can also use butter, but for health's sake, I use canola oil. After heating the oil, sauté sliced onions and supposedly some minced garlic, but I'm out of it, so I just used garlic powder instead. Add green and red chili and sauté them with the onions. (I set aside some green and red chili for garnish later.)
Next, add the mayonnaise mixture, followed by the fried tofu and chicken fillet. Stir and combine well, then cook for a few minutes.
And... that’s it! It's all done. Transfer the chicken-tofu sisig to a serving plate.
Garnish with some fresh green and red chili and some grated cheese, and top with a sunny-side-up egg. Serve with rice while it's hot. It's absolutely spicy and delicious.
At first, my nephew didn't eat the tofu, but as he saw that all of us enjoyed eating it, he tried to taste it, and I'm so happy that he likes it. He said, "Mommy, it's yummy." That was his first time eating tofu. To be honest, he doesn't like to eat a lot of food, but when I personally cooked some of those foods, he genuinely liked them and convinced his mom to follow my cooking techniques.
Actually, it's just a simple home cooking style but with my heart in it. Maybe that's why it's always delicious... heheh.😊
That would be all for today's blog, and I hope you like it.
Thank you so much for stopping by, and God bless. ❣🙏
