Know me long enough in ASEAN Hive community, i was once crown as the ambassador of Kentucky Fried Chicken by many original charter members of this community. Setting the cholesterol aside, KFC is the most consistent "local" food that can never fail you, regardless which country you're visiting. It has to taste like KFC.
There are a ton of KFC information available at fhe internet, i think i have previously read a few notes about why was it once changed name to KFC instead od Kentucky Fried Chicken. That was due to the state office decided to file a sole rights of ownership of the name of Kentucky.
With the name of Kentucky stuck at the famous restaurant chain, the loyalty is going to cost them a hefty. It doesn't even make sense to allow the state office to OWN the name and start collecting loyalty anyways. So they changed name to KFC instead, and that lasted quite a long time before the court rule the name Kentucky to be a common right.
That was about it about the history that i can remember. There are more facts about KFC, but since this us not a trivia contest post, I'm too lazy to dig further information up from the internet. You all going to consume what i vomit from my memory.
I've been so several KFC outlet from different countries and different province/state. I can't they all taste exactly the same, but i can tell they generally uses the similar 11 basic herbs and spices no matter which country's KFC you eat.
I've been to Jakarta and Bali's KFC. They're very close to Malaysians version except they dont use Thai Chili Sauce. However, they offer Sambal(sort of local chili pepper paste) to go with their fried chicken. Other than that, they're quite similar.
I also went to multiple KFC outlets in different province in China. Namely Chengdu, Chongqing their KFC are known to spiced up with peppercorn. They also have their skewer sticks which i can't find the same from other country's KFC.
The other KFC is Macau, they sell egg tarts 🤣 I'm serious. Never in my life will i imagine such combination of fried chicken goes with egg tarts. The ones in Hong Kong, Guangzhou are quite normal and boring though. Regardless, they're pretty standard and blend in with fheir local V Soy drink.
I have been to Korean's KFC that has Kimchee flavored salads 🤣 and also BBQ buldak chicken wings. I can't say i am enjoying them much, but their original recipe do still smells like kimchi though. Malaysians KFC is quite similar to Thailand. Once of the most significant difference being, we have Thai Chilli Sauce to go with our fries chicken. Even our Thailand counterpart doesn't have a Thai Chilli Sauce for fheir fried chicken 🤣 but the Thai standard hot and spicy chicken uses chilli pepper powder to sprinkle on the already spicy chicken bread, that was unexpectedly strong, spicy, salty, tasty that makes you cant stop eating and crying at the same time 🤣
You see, now you know all these photos are not mine. It was taken by my good friend @txcowboy54 when he went to Kentucky last week. Unfortunately his key was not usable for some reasons, therefore he was never blogging here except having private chat with me. He has always been my eyes to see the world by sharing his adventures with me via WhatsApp. I hope one day i will be able to visit Kentucky, to taste the real deal in the state for myself.
