𝑫𝒐 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒄𝒆𝒍𝒆𝒃𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒅𝒆𝒄𝒆𝒂𝒔𝒆𝒅 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒅-𝒐𝒏𝒆𝒔' 𝒃𝒊𝒓𝒕𝒉𝒅𝒂𝒚𝒔?
Hi my Dear Asean Hivers, Greetings from the Philippines, today I will write about my day and how we found the perfect cake for my deceased big brother.

I woke up early because it is raining, and yes, there is another typhoon again, this one is not as strong as the Kalmaegi and Fung Wong but It brought so much rain and the city is flooded again.
Today is my late brother's birthday, I wasn't able to meet him because he died during child birth,if he was alive it will be his 39th Birthday, I and my family never miss any birthdays, even though the family member is no longer with us, it is a sort of tradition, to show our love and devotion to them, and to let them know that we don't forget their special day, sharing sweets with family members is actually a core asian value, it is said to tighten the relationship and makes it sweet 🎂🧁
We don't really have wide varieties of Bake shops near our place, not unless you are willing to drive for another 30 minutes to the city center, and because it is raining today, we decided to just choose a bakeshop within the vicinity.

First stop is this Vietnamese Cafeteria/ Panaderia (bakeshop in Spanish- Filipino language) cakes look so promising, they have Biscoff Cake, Mango, Black Forrest, Mango Float Cake and Ube, but my Father said to explore the place for other options. I really wanted to try their famous Bahn Mi, but it is not yet available as some ingredients are not yet in their store, sad 😞

Next stop is Goldilocks
They have Sansrival, Cherry Torte, Black Forrest , Chocolate Caramel, Toblerone Cake and their signature Classic Chocolate Cake, when we entered the shop, the clerk is still restocking and said, maybe there are other flavors available but she still doesn't know because the items are still being unloaded and so we decided to explore some more and told the clerk we will come back in few minutes.

After, we went to the Supermarket to buy our weekly grocery items, I remembered there is another bakeshop inside and the name of the stall is Patty Cake, their cakes are simple, yet scrumptious, especially the chocolate yema cake (Filipino Salted Caramel version), we have tried it before, I am on the verge of choosing it but my father said, Mom is craving for Ube Cake, they have it in this stall, however they don't have the round one, then he remembers that there is another Bakeshop nearby and It is the Red Ribbon,( a local cake shop in our country) and it has Ube cake (Purple Yam cake).
Final stop, Red Ribbon Bakeshop, they have the Ube cake too, but my father said, it doesn't look so appetizing 😅 and so flowery, and I remember, the cake is for my Brother and not really for us. 😁

and so we finally made a decision to go back to Goldilocks and check if they have any Ube Flavored cake and luckily, the store clerk said, they do, finally, we got the Ube Macapuno (Purple Yam with Sweetened Coconut Strips)

I also bought their Buttered Puto (Filipino steamed cake) and the clerk said it is part of the promotion that once you buy a cake, the Puto will only be Php50.00 or $0.86 instead of Php 100.00 or $1.72, so I got one pack of 10's.
I would always feel that my Brother is always with us, like an Angel, and so we never miss celebrating his birthday, not only to remember him, but also to thank him for being our angel.
How about you? do you believe in Angels? do you also celebrate your departed loved ones birthday? like they are still here with you? I guess being family means having that connection, that not even death can set us apart.
Thank you so much my Dear Hivers for the time to read my blog post.
