Ginisang Patola (Sponge Gourd), Chicken and Vermicelli

$1

Hello, how are you? This month, we received "ayuda" or aid from the people who will run this election. We received a lot of instant noodles, rice, and this vermicelli, and I wonder why they gave some. And then my mom bought patola for our dinner, which is perfect for the vermicelli they gave us. Thanks to them, we have dinner already! LOL.

It is been a while since we ate this dish, so the flavor is so refreshing. My mom rarely buys sponge gourd, and I honestly didn't like it before, but after tasting it, not bad, actually, so this is on our list of dishes to eat and what I like about is that it is easy to cook so if you're lazy like me I recommend to cook this dish.

Ingredients I Used and Prepping:

  • 2 tbsp of cooking oil
  • chicken breast
  • 6 cloves of garlic
  • 1 red onion
  • 1 tbsp of fish sauce
  • 1 patola (sponge gourd)
  • 1 1/2 cup of water
  • Half of the chicken broth cube
  • 50 g vermicelli noodles
  • 1/2 tsp ground pepper

Let's Cook!

In a hot pan, I pour 2 tablespoons of cooking oil.

When the cooking oil is hot enough, I added the chicken. I used chicken breast. And you can add as much or less of meat, but I suggest adding more meat, the better.

When the chicken turns golden brown on both sides, that is a good sign that it is cooked already.

After the chicken is cooked, I am going to add the garlic and red onion and sauté them until the aroma comes out. It is up to you how much garlic and onion you're going to add.

Next is I am going to add 1 tablespoon of fish sauce and let that seep into the meat.

After that, I added the patola in.

Then I added 1 1/2 cups of water.

I added this chicken broth cube.

After that, I added the vermicelli into the pan.

Added a half teaspoon of ground pepper.

After that, I close the lid and let it cook for about 5 minutes or until the vermicelli is soft enough.

Plated and served! I suggest eating it when still hot because that is the best time to eat it :D

I missed eating this one. I also miss eating "miswa" or glass noodles with sardines or "sardinas". I agree that it's really good to eat it while it's hot. Thank you for the step-by-step instructions on how to prepare it. I can't wait to try cooking it as well.

Oh yes, I also tried that one too! :D You're welcome :D

Oh, I miss eating this kind of dish. I usually cooked patola with sardines as a meat and sotanghon or glass noodles. This is perfect for lunch and on rainy days.

Yes, i do that too! That is true perfect for rainy day! :D

This food is so light, healthy, and flavorful. Simple yet so satisfying.🥰I missed this kind of food.🙄

Wow! that is nice you received a lot of blessings from the election candidates, but choose the right one for the position and don't think of what they have given during the coming election. I Love patola vegetable because that is good for hypertension.
