Hello, how are you? First of all, Happy New Year to everybody. This new year felt refreshing to me, as it has been a long time since I've felt this kind of lightness in my energy. I guess this 2026 is my year.
I am thankful to my parents and siblings because I had time to unwind with them for the past weeks. Now I am back again here on Hive fresh and ready again LOL.
I've realized lately that being with my family, safe and healthy, is enough for me, and just a simple meal to eat is enough.
I was browsing through hive and I saw ASEAN posted a weekly challenge ASEAN Hive Challenge "New Year's Celebrations," which is good timing from the photo I took this new year.
The Prosperity Bowl and Lucky Fruits:
I don’t remember clearly what year this trend of making prosperity bowl began, but yeah, it's kind of a ritual for my mom to do it yearly, and I really like how happy and satisfied I am when my mom finishes doing her thing, and I am here for and I can eat golden coin chocolate so it is a win-win for us LOL.
Foods We Cook for the New Year:
My mom asked me to cook a roasted whole chicken this new year, and I feel just a little doubtful about my skills because it has been a while since I cooked one, but I think I did just well, my parents and siblings liked it.
So Lumpiang Shanghai is kind of a ritual for us to cook, and what I regret about it is that the wrapper we bought at the mall’s grocery store can’t hold the filling for a long time enough compared to the one we always buy from our local market, so the middle part busted, but still tasted delicious.
This is my all-time favorite food for the new year the buttered garlic shrimp. I saw a recipe online, and it was really good, so this is the only technique I am going to use when cooking this recipe, and the butter I used really matter the better the taste.
This is my second favorite food this new year the BBQ that my brother cooked the marinate is so perfect it flashback to my elementary days when someone sell BBQ on our school and it taste like that but it is so expensive so buying it is like a reward for me and for the wine I didn’t drink much just a tinnie tiny sip for our ritual cheers LOL and I gave the rest to my dad.
I forgot to take photos of the Graham and the salad LOL of course those two will never leave the to-make list of food, and we have sodas too.
Happy New Year:
I use this stainless steel bowl and a steel spatula as my new year noise and a free fireworks show from our neighbors, and this year they have a lot of budget for fireworks compared to the previous years LOL, thank you neighbors!
Took some videos so you can see it too! They’re so beautiful and loud. Our dogs and cat are all scared, so we're pretty much not making too much noise just to ease them, and this year is Mochi's first new year. She took it like a champ, she doesn’t care at all LOL, and my brother’s dog Thor is kind of barking hearing those fireworks LOL.
Cheers to the New Year!
After the celebration and before we eat, we do our ritual cheers to celebrate the new year, and took photo of us, and we eat! Actually, as I make this blog at this time, the weather here is gloomy, a tiny droplet of rain, and chilly, and it is so hard to get out of bed LOL. Once again, Happy New Year!
Thank you for visiting, see you on my next blog. :D
