Hello ASEAN Hivers! Hope y'all are doing great.
It’s been a while since my last post. I’ve been caught up with life. But I’m back, and I’ve got another little adventure to share with you all! Thanks @justinparke for this challenge.
Recently, my family and I visited a charming gift shop near a monastery.
The place was filled with products from across the Philippines, though most were proudly crafted by local artisans and entrepreneurs from Guimaras. And guess what? I stumbled upon a bunch of red-themed goodies. Let’s dive in!
Right as you enter, you’re greeted by rows of edible delights.. biscocho, otap, barquillos, and cookies. Not red, I know—but hey, that’s just the warm-up! 😄
As I browsed the shelves, I spotted something RED. They're sweet.

There are some sweet mango cubes and mango fries. I love mango flavored goodies. They looked delicious but a bit too sweet for my taste, so I moved along.
Next up: RED boxes.... ❤️
💖
These are boxes of rum balls and assorted flavored crinkles
💖
Never had one of these rum balls, but, still not for me. My little niece had her eyes set on the crinkles,, so of course, I grabbed her a box. And check out the next set of displays.
Then something caught my eye,, crispy mushroom chips..
Now that’s something. Not sweet. Not too spicy, I hope so 🤣. And something unique.
Moving on to the souvenir section, I found beautiful red rosaries in different sizes and colors.
Nearby were small Señor Sto. Niño figures tucked in red pouches. They are for luck and protection, according to the helpful staff.
I’ve spotted more red items in the gift shop. Necklaces, bracelets and different kinds of keychains. So many unique finds, and so many reasons to take a little piece of Guimaras home with you.
They also have bags and hats but I guess I’m gonna make another blog to show you guys all the stuff we found. But now, let’s focus on the RED. 😁😄
Then, to top it all up, we found something precious and sacred.
We found this outside the church. This is the statue of a little girl praying beside the statue of Mother Mary. My niece felt that she was like this little girl. So she wanted to pray, as well.
We had a short reflection and my little niece lit a candle and prayed.
She said, she prayed for the safety of her father, who is working abroad. Good health for her mom (my sister) and her little sister. And abundance of blessing for us so she can always come with us whenever we have travels and outings. She also said that she didn't pray for our health because she thinks we are already healthy.🤣 (Why? because my husband and I are a bit plumpy, and she thinks if you are fat, you are healthy. So, for her, we are already HEALTHY 😆).
===========================================================================
That's it for our little RED hunt. 'Til next time, Hivers! Have a wonderful day.
