Introduction
Because I blog and share content on loads of yummlicious food that I eat especially with friends and families, some might have mistaken that I always have been eating loads of good stuff in restaurants or big eateries. But to be honest, most of the things that I ate come from a hawker centre, a building that house a big collection of food stalls with seats for patrons to have their meals as seen in the cover photo. And in them, a huge variety of food can be found. At times one will be spoiled for choices and end up going round in circles around the stores before finally deciding on what to eat.

My Typical Meals

Today's post gonna be a light one, sharing with the community on the 3 typical food I eat for lunch and dinners. And all of these can be found at hawker centres situated around the island.

Yong Tau Foo

Yong Tau Foo

Why is this the first item that gets featured? This is because this is my favourite comfort food and portion can be decided by the number of items you pick. Each item is approximately, $0.70-$1 Singapore dollars and typically requires a minimum of 5 items and a staple (noodles, rice noodles or rice). Items available typically involve items that are stuffed fish paste such as beancurd, dried beancurd, capsicum, chilli, brinjal etc. There are also items such as fresh vegetables, mushrooms, fishball, egg etc. If picked correctly, it can give a nice balance diet. This item can be cooked soup or dried depending on your preference. I like it dry, so it will be served with a small bowl of soup and drenched with chilli/sweet sauce.

Fried Egg Soup

Fried Egg Soup

Another comfort food that I eat. This is when I just want something nice and warm, where the soup is nicely cooked with a fried egg hiding within it to give that unique taste to the soup. The soup contained a whole bowl of goodness from vegetables to minced meat, from ikan bilis to fish ball. Another complete meal that is easy on the stomach and on the wallet.

This soup so far I only managed to find at a particular hawker centre because this dish is really like a homemade recipe. Maybe I should ask the storekeeper for a lesson to cook this so that this recipe will not be lost.

Mixed Rice

Mixed Rice

This is the most commonly found in food places. You will see trays of food on display across the whole display area of the stall. So what we do is that, the server will ask if you are eating at the hawker centre or packing home, then scoop rice onto a plate if you are dining in or a styrofoam box if you are packing home. Then we will tell the server, what dishes we want. And the funny thing is that, we might not know the names of the dishes on those trays, so we end up pointing at the tray and telling the server, "I want this, I want that."

And to understand this dish and its ordering more, please watch this music video:

Hope you've enjoyed the nice vocals of the singers and understand more about this dish which is also something that most Singaporeans eat during meal times because it is similar to that of eating at home.
