Centuries after it was built, this building is now home to a restaurant accommodating the flow of tourists that pass through these ancient Caribbean streets. I used to read fantasy books, and there was a famous gathering place in the Dragonlance lore called the Inn of the Last Home. It was a cozy place where heroes and rivals would meet to forget the ills of the world or conspire for more mayhem.
This restaurant with its antique arches and medieval construction gave me that feeling of being in a long forgotten realm. Western fantasy is by and large based on European medieval stories, and the 16th-century Iberian architecture that adorned this building was right out of fantasy lore.

I looked around and tried to imagine what this place was like in the past. I couldn’t fathom its purpose, of which only vague impressions remained in its outward appearance.
As a restaurant, the establishment was a classy place that took meticulous care of food presentation and combination of flavours. A lineup had formed at the entrance and people were being turned away by flustered staff if they had no reservation.
On the way out, I overheard a gentleman who was waiting by the door with his group,
“Well, we’ve been standing here awhile," he said in English, "someone’s bound to come out.”
Appetizers, drinks, and desserts were outstanding. The music was smooth and vibrant, creating a pleasant atmosphere. Whatever it may have been many moons ago, it was a wonderful way to spend the night in that old city.
