Greetings!🙌
I grew up with the mindset that eating out, I mean buying fast food, was an expensive lifestyle, and that cooking and eating at home was economical. I didn't need to spend time checking and calculating the differences because I grew up in a home where there were many of us, and we all ate from one pot. Imagine buying food for everyone at home for every breakfast, lunch, and dinner; it would surely wreck the bank account of where the money was coming from.
Two days ago, I met a guy who tried to change my thoughts about cooking and eating at home because, according to him, it's stressful and expensive to cook and eat at home. I was shocked when he mentioned 'expensive', and I had to ask him how.
He said he doesn't eat much; he eats rice for less than 1,000 naira anytime he goes out to eat. I didn't bother to ask him how many times he does that per day, and quickly, my brain ran through and calculated how much he spends a day if it's only for breakfast and dinner.
As for me, I live alone, and I've been into eating at home, cooking by myself and eating. This lifestyle has been with me ever since I started living alone in school, and it has helped me save money. I'm a very economical person, and I like to use my hard-earned money wisely.
Aside from this, I eat out once in a while, and many times, that happens when I'm totally choked up and don't have time to prepare something to satisfy my hunger quickly. I'm not the type that eating out purges; no, it does nothing to me. The only problem I have is the high cost, and most times, some of the foods don't taste as good as it should be. Outside food is supposed to be more delicious than home-cooked food.
To be very honest here, if I had the resources to go with fast food regularly when I'm always jam-packed with work, I would happily hop into it because it would save me a lot of time.
I haven't really been addicted to fast food, and anytime I see people ordering all the well-peppered turkey and chicken, I salivate and swallow my saliva in peace because following those people to do such ordering would totally wreck my pocket. If I had the money, I wouldn't feel it; I would eat all those and feel good with my saved time.
The only thing that would make my system feel cheated is that I naturally love to cook my meals. The way I go about making my food in a very 'fast and furious' mode gives me a lot of joy. Eating a very delicious meal made by me makes me want to announce to the world that I'm a good cook. Another thing is that many times, I don't fry my food, which is completely opposite to what fast food vendors do. They fry everything, making the food not hold the full nutrients even though the taste comes out good in the end.
Thanks for reading.
