Doing a challenge on 5 minute Freewrite, please see below for my story:
It was a slow day in the small town of Hillside. The streets were empty and the houses were silent. The sun was shining and the birds were singing, but there was no one around to enjoy it.
James had been living in Hillside for a few months now and he was used to the slow pace of life here. He had moved from the city and was looking for a fresh start.
Today, he decided to take a walk around the town. He passed by the small shops that lined the streets and admired the old buildings that had been there for generations. He continued on until he came to a park.
The park was full of children playing and families having a picnic. James stopped to watch them, feeling a pang of sadness and loneliness. He had no family and no friends. He wished he could join in the fun.
But, he knew it was time to go home. As he made his way back, he noticed something unusual. There was a group of people gathered in the middle of the street. They were all dressed in black and carrying a large banner. James stopped to watch.
The group was holding a silent protest. They were protesting the slow pace of life in Hillside. They wanted to draw attention to the lack of opportunity and progress in the town.
James watched silently, feeling a strange sense of pride. He realized that he was part of something bigger than himself. He was part of a community that was trying to make a difference.
As he walked away, James thought about how much he had changed since he came to Hillside. He had thought it was just a slow day, but it had become so much more.
