Repurposing is the definition of homesteading. It always has been the basis of survival for humanity, until about 100 years ago or less. Millennias of human history spent using every part of every kill, reusing every possible building material, etc etc. Amazing how quickly the message has changed yet here we are continuing in what is instinctual. It's only in the last few months I've begun to think outside of that mindset as I dive into the AI and 3D printing and realize I can actually verbally/typed ask questions or just print off an object that I need at the moment...

Even though affluence has had it's benefits, one of the negatives is wastefulness, but I think there's a lot of us leaning into our subsistence genes, or at least all the replies to this post makes me feel hopeful in that department!
