RE: Breaking up with sugar? Is it worth it?

in Weekend Experiences2 days ago

I'm the same. I never was one for sugar, in fact, there's a great line in the movie Snatch:

Whenever I'm asked if I'd like something sweet or sugar for my coffee, that's my line. "No thanks, I'm sweet enough."

With Lily it's the same. She's allowed one sweet a day, and I try to give her most things unsweetened. There are some exceptions, of course, like Ketchup which we both enjoy. But since I prepare most of our food myself, it's actually easy to stick to low-sugar.

I love that line 😂😂 - might have to steal it! "No thanks, I'm sweet enough" is the perfect sassy sugar comeback.

Sounds like you and lily have a great system going. It's great you're setting such mindful habit for her from an early age. One sweet a day is super reasonable (and yes, ketchup deserves its own exception category).
Props to you for making most of your food - that's real dedication.

It's being vegan in a carnivore country... If I had where to go, I'd eat out way more often 🤣

😂😂🥲 I can only imagine the struggle! Being vegan where meat is the main event must feel like a daily food scavenger hunt. But hey, at least your cooking skills are probably top-tier by now, you've basically become your own favourite restaurant
