Sometimes exhaustion becomes the best motivation to finally step out and enjoy life a little. š This one was definitely the second kind. After having to work on a Saturday, yes, Saturday!, my friends and I decided that we deserved a little pampering, even if it was just a simple movie night and a quick dinner.

Funny thing is, we had been planning this get-together for so long, but somehow it only happened now⦠maybe because all of us were equally tired and desperately needed a break. lol š
Since we didnāt want to travel far, we went to the nearest big mall ā Ayala Center, one of the biggest malls nearby and the easiest place for us to meet. And because almost all of us are fans of horror and ghost stories, choosing what movie to watch was easy. We picked The Conjuring 2, one of the newest releases.

Of course our a cinema trip is never complete without snacks. While waiting in line, each of us grabbed something, classic popcorn, fries from Potato Corner, drinks and a few extra munchies just in case.

We even joked that we probably bought more than we could finish, but in the spirit of treating ourselves, we didnāt care. We earned this weekend, after all!

Before entering the cinema, we did what every group of friends does: picture-picture muna. Itās like a rule, you canāt start a horror movie night without at least one photo documenting your ābefore the screaming beginsā faces. We laughed, posed, and tried to prepare ourselves for the upcoming jump scares.

When the cinema doors opened, we settled in, arranged our food, and got ready. As the movie started, the room got darker and quieter ā except for our whispers and occasional giggles. But hereās the funny part: The Conjuring 2 wasnāt even that scary. I mean, yes, there were intense moments, but I swear my own screams shocked me more than the actual movie scenes.
Imagine getting scared not because of the ghost, but because of your own reaction. 𤣠Every time something popped out, I jumped, screamed, and then burst out laughing afterward. Typical.

But honestly, we had so much fun. It wasnāt really about how scary the movie was ā it was about being together, sharing the reactions, whispering āhala ka naā to each other before a jump scare, and just enjoying the moment. Moments like these remind me that sometimes, simple hangouts are enough to recharge your spirit.

After the movie, you would think weād go home since weād already eaten tons of snacks, right? Nope. We left the cinema announcing, āGutom na ako,ā as if we didnāt just finish buckets of popcorn. So of course, we ended up going for Samgyupsal. Yes, on top of all the snacks. Yes, gastos talaga. But also yes, totally worth it!
We ordered spicy noodles, bulgogi bibimbap, fried chicken, and a whole spread of side dishes. The table looked like a mini Korean feast, and even though we pretended to be careful with our spending, we already knew that this night was all about treating ourselves. While grilling the meat and sharing stories about the movie, we just kept laughing. Some of us tried to act brave, retelling scenes as if we didnāt scream inside the cinema minutes ago. But the teasing made everything even funnier.
After a dragging week and a tiring Saturday shift, this spontaneous night out became the perfect reset button.

By the time we finished eating, we were full ā literally and emotionally. Full stomach, full hearts, full of laughter. And even though we spent more than we planned, Iād say every peso was worth it because moments like this donāt happen all the time.
So hereās to more spontaneous plans becoming real, more cinema nights, more samgyupsal sessions, and more weekends where we choose rest, fun, and good company. Because at the end of the day, itās not the grandeur of the plan that matters ā itās the memories we make along the way.
