We have a similar dish in my country, beans cooked in a soupy broth with onion and spices. We call it "Soup Beans" and serve it with bread made from corn/maize (either fluffy cornbread or flatbread "hoe cakes" cooked in a cast iron skillet). Beans are a good source of plant-based protein, so many people prepare this when they have no meat. Your version looks very yummy! 😋
