Time was already 2 p.m. when my body became very weak because I had not had breakfast due to how serious I was about finishing a particular set of work I was doing—three sets of big wedding gowns—and they had to be washed without a washing machine, otherwise they were going to be torn. They were so big that I had to struggle very hard to hang them on the rope. So heavy!
When hunger struck in the afternoon, I had to suspend the work to go and make food to eat, and instead of going for junk food or buying cooked food from a restaurant, I decided to prepare it myself because I love homemade food so much, especially when I prepare it to my taste.
There was smoked fish already in my kitchen and other ingredients which I had bought yesterday, so I went to my little garden and plucked waterleaf. I don't know how I’ve become so fond of waterleaf soup—it has become my go-to soup anytime I want to prepare a quick meal.
I plucked a lot from the garden; they were very fresh and succulent.
I went into the kitchen to remove the flowers and slice them, and to be honest, I wanted to make a video of it, but due to hunger, I didn’t realize when I finished cooking and eating. It was when I was satisfied and full that I remembered I didn’t capture the cooking process. You can’t blame me—I was very hungry, and it’s not easy to stay till 2 p.m. before having breakfast.
The food was so delicious, and I have half a pot of it remaining, which I will enjoy later in the day.
After relaxing for a while, I went back to finish up my work, and by then, the water in the last wedding gown—which is the biggest—had drained off, so it was a little bit easier for me to lift it up as I put it on the hanger under the sun.
The weather had been so cooperative with good sunlight—the kind that can turn a light-complexioned person into a dark-complexioned one. Lol. It was an answered prayer for me because it had been raining every day, and just today, the sun decided to take things very seriously.
The hot sunshine was exactly what I wanted to dry off the water on the gowns to at least 60%, and I’ll continue the next day because the gowns are big, and no matter how hot the sun is, they can’t be dried completely in one day.
Thanks for reading.
