When you're waiting for someone, especially when you’re early or they’re running late, it almost always ends up with you spending money, or is it just me? 🤔 I always try to convince myself I'm just looking around but somehow my feet lead me into a store, and the next thing I know, I'm paying for something I didn't even plan to buy.
This happened on one random rainy afternoon. I wasn’t planning to go out at all, but then I saw a message in our group chat from one of my friends. He was asking if anyone was free to grab coffee. Normally, it takes forever for our schedules to align, so I didn’t hesitate. I replied, “I’m in!” right away even though I wasn’t sure if the others could come. I just thought, if I’m free and there’s a chance to catch up with my friends, I’m going. No second-guessing.
Maybe it's the thought that we’re all growing older and busier. One day we’re free to hang out, the next thing, someone’s moving cities, changing jobs, getting married. So I try to show up while I still can. You’ll never know when the next time will be, right?

To my surprise, six out of the seven of us were available that night. We talked about a few ideas on where to meet but no one could really decide, so we ended up going to our usual spot, the Uptown Mall.
Gabbie and I arrived first since we're in the area already. Then Addie came in a few minutes later. Bree showed up earlier than expected, since she lives in Quezon City.
While waiting for the others, we wandered around and ended up in front of Rita’s. It is a dessert spot known for its Italian ice and frozen treats. At first, we were just checking the menu, not really planning to buy anything. But then the staff offered us free samples 😋

We tried flavors like S’mores, Fudge Brownie, Green Apple, and Cotton Candy. I fell in love with the Fudge Brownie Gelati. I usually don’t go for sweets, but that one hit the spot. I got a regular size, chose the Twist for the custard, and skipped toppings since the combo was already sweet enough. I even asked for extra spoons so my friends could try it too.

And no, I didn’t lick the top 😂 I used a spoon hahaha I almost forgot to take a picture for the blog, but thankfully I snapped one after my first scoop. My friends loved it too! The branch we went to had chairs and tables so we stayed there while waiting for the rest of our friends.

That gelati made the waiting time feel short. Waiting isn’t so bad when you’ve got good company and a cup of Gelati 💖
Now I’m craving it again. Can’t wait to go back and try the other flavors!
Have you been to Rita’s? If yes, what should I try next?
Enjoyed this scoop?
