My Vitamin B...

in Hive PHyesterday (edited)

Hello Hive friends!! How many of you are using Vitamin B supplements?

I am 41 years old and never take any supplements myself. Normally, I am not that concerned about the impact of the different kinds of food on my body. My concern is if I am hungry and I just eat what is available. As I always cook my food myself so I know that it's healthy and I like also to eat vegetables and fruits.

But suddenly, since February's 2nd week this year, I felt that my left knee is hurting when walking the stairs, even if I don't remember that I had any accident or injury...
Maybe the reason is that I walk a lot everyday and in addition jog and do much gym as well.

Especially from July 2024 to December 2024 I also had to stand a lot because during these time period I was very busy with making and selling lots of food. I partly started at 3 at nights with the prepation and didn't finish work before late evening (nowadays, as my financial situation has somewhat improved, I work a little bit less again).

In the end I can only guess what's the main reason of my knees issues...

Apart from the suspicion that I simply strain my body and knees too much, it came to my mind that maybe I also lack vitamin B because when doing some research I found articles like this one which mention that vitamin B complex helps against diseases like osteoarthritis and inflammation in rheumatoid arthritis.

I read that especially vitamin B12 is not found in plant products but only in meat, fish, eggs and dairy goods (which also provide other B vitamins). And I realized that I probably don't it enough of these kinds of food.

So what did I do to get enough vitamin B?

Eating Steaks! (At least even if my knees hurt I am still able to smile, lol.)

The first thing I did was frying myself some big, tasty steaks with just some added salt and pepper! Sooo delicious!! And as long as you don’t get any meat stuck in your teeth, eating steaks can even help to improve your mood and smile, hehe!

Apart from providing quite some vitamin B, beef steaks are also a great proteine source.

I found this information here.

These steaks were really yummy! But recently I try to eat also more fish again, especially as in the period before Easter, apart from fasting every Friday, I also abstain from eating meat!
... So Here I am eating lots of fish.... Hehe:

Salmon Head - a precious source of Vitamin B and Protein...

Salmon head is also sooo yummy... I bake it with just salt... and to cover up the smell I rub it with ginger and scallion!

Fish (like also Salmon) contains lots of B vitamins and is a great source of proteins.
In additon, salmon is a source precious omega-3 fatty acids, which are good for the heart, decrease inflammation and support brain health.

I got that information from this source.

Baking Mackerels

Look at this delicios mackerels which I was baking and eating together with some potatoes!

Mackerels are a rich source of omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin B12, vitamin D, selenium and of course also proteins!

Balut

In fact, because of the nutritious qualities of Balut (a fertilized developing egg embryo that is boiled or steamed and eaten from the shell), Filipino parents consider it to be a superfood that is good for the brain.
Balut is not only rich on proteins but in additon provides (among other beneficial substances) vitamin B12, calcium, iron, and the vitamins C and D.

In the Philippines they say that Balut may also help you in the bedroom, lol... ehehe... plus kaya pamapalakas tuhod. In my country men use it as an aphrodisiac and think of it as an (healthier!) "equivalent of Viagra" because of its high protein content and its ability to boost energy and stir up desire.

Whether you want to taste a new delicacy or ramp up your diet with something healthy, Balut is worth trying.
