Since it's already our vacation, I mostly just stay inside our house. Unlike the times we were still in classes where I mostly just bought my lunch in the nearby karenderias outside our campus, now it's mostly up to me or my mother (sometimes) if I'm going to eat something for lunch or not. Today, it's my turn to wash the dishes, so I get to clean the kitchen as well. After washing the dishes, I noticed that there wasn't any leftover viand from our breakfast so I kinda panic because I was near to being broke and I couldn't buy food outside because my money was already allotted to my incoming parcel huhu.
Plus my mother isn't home because she has errands to do, so I'm left alone with my siblings who are equally as broke as I am. However, just before I finished cleaning the table I remembered something. There's that instant pasta I bought last Sunday! It's the instant pasta I saw in the TV commercial last week, and when we were at the supermarket last Sunday I happened to also pick it up along with packs of my favorite instant ramen I ate earlier this week. I don't how it tastes and how to cook it, so I kinda hesitated. But in the end, my grumbling stomach's decision triumphed and so I immediately prepared the stuff needed for cooking it.
So now here's a short experience of mine on my first try cooking an instant pasta!
So first, I read the instructions because as I said, it's my first time and worse I have no experience cooking pasta before.
After reading the steps, I immediately followed the first one. I put 2 cups of water on the small pot and I bring it to boil for about 5 minutes.
Seeing that there were already a lot of bubbles, I immediately put the pasta on it and it didn't take long for it to bend.
Then after that, I gave it a little stir to make all the pasta evenly cooked, and also even though it isn't part of the instruction, I gave it a pinch of salt.
On the other hand, while waiting for the pasta to be cooked, I prepared the seasonings.
After roughly 3 minutes, I drained the pasta and set it aside for a while.
Then I opened the sauce, seasoning and toppings and after that, I gave it multiple stirs so that its consistency would look decent. I also added 2 tablespoons of boiling pasta water, but it seems it's not wet enough so I added some more until the mixture looked like soup.
Finally, I added the noodles and gave them a lot of mixings and stirs so that the distribution of sauce would really be even.
And...Tadaaaa! It's done!
By the time I finished cooking it, I was already really hungry. I gave some to my siblings and after that, I immediately ate a hearty portion of it and when I got to know what it tasted like I was kinda surprised. I thought it would taste creamy, but it turns out it tastes garlicky. I'm proud of how I cooked the pasta because it's not overcooked or undercooked. I guess my years of experience in cooking instant noodles and instant ramen paid off. I know this is probably not something of a big deal because it's just cooking an instant pasta, but hey—it's my first time cooking pasta by myself, so it's somehow a big thing for me that I didn't turn out badly. The seasoning was just fine, though I think it's too salty for my taste. Or perhaps it's the salt I mixed in the pasta while boiling it haha.
And before I forget, I partnered it with rice because I can't definitely eat a meal without rice. Rice is basically life to me, so yeah even though I'm eating instant ramen or pancit canton, I really eat it with rice—and this pasta is no exception to that. I ate it all in less than 5 minutes and after that, I decided to make a lemonsito juice just to cleanse my mouth with lingering garlicky flavor in it. There's a lemonsito tree near our house so it's easy for us to make juice out of it anytime. Of 'course after eating I stood for a little and later on sat to drink the juice I made. I sip it while reading the new book I purchased...ahhh I hope moments like this happen often.
So that's it! Have you tried this instant pasta already? If you already have tried it, you can totally share your thoughts about it. Do you like how it tastes? How about the cooking process? Do you think it's worth the cook? I don't know if it's already in all supermarkets, but if you have something to share feel free to write them down. That's all for now everyone—I hope you're also having a nice Friday~ Hope to see you on my next blog!
