Hey Actifitters,
With the chilly sunny weather fully back yesterday, the day started like many days did recently: Le Chat having a very hard napping session while we checked the foliage colors in the yard.
Later in the afternoon when we started our daily walk, the beautiful light made it tempting to stay in the small forest behind the front yard.
And Kaia for sure went in!
But I wanted a longer warm up before my run, so we of course went to the bigger forest.
The light was just as beautiful and Kaia had much more space to run off-leash.
Until she sensed something.
Yep, deer were in the area.
As you could have guessed, chaos ensued. Some went left, some went right, and all were too fast for my camera!
After things calmed down, deer were still worried about Kaia and kept an eye on her from afar.
For a minute, I thought these two males were talking together to check all the others were safe.
But their discussion quickly turned into a fight as they locked antlers. Must be the season.
We stopped at our Cubiverse vault as usual. Again, too early for the comet, but planes provided nice trails in the sunset sky.
As I said, I had planned a run, so it was time to walk back home, cutting back through the forest of course.
It was already night time when I went for my run. And chilly, down to low 40s F, barely 5C. Perfect for a run, my last real one before the Detroit half marathon this coming Sunday. I went for about 11km, at a pretty good pace. Let's see what happens during the race.
During my run, I noticed a nicely open area with a good view to the West, and even though I knew it was most likely too late to see the infamous comet, I thought we'd try anyways. It was also an opportunity to check out some of the Halloween decorations in the neighborhood.
Combined with the almost full Moon, it was pretty cool.
As expected, no comet, but I'll try again the next day, earlier if possible, just after sunset.
Well, that was a pretty active day, with two walks and a good run. By far my best step count in a while I think. Hopefully this is good for the half marathon. I think I'll try an easy 5k on Friday, just to finalize my preparation (which by the way was very far from optimal).
As always, thanks for stopping by and see you tomorrow.
