When I woke up this morning, I wasn't in my best mood, my nostrils were almost blocked, and I might have caught a cold during the night, possibly due to too much exposure to the cold weather.
Something had to be done, as I wasn't ready to let my morning get ruined. I had a lot of activities lined up for the day.
A thought came to my mind, and I remembered a recipe I saw in the plant power hive community a few days back that I had planned to try out.
Carrot and garlic soup. I know garlic is a perfect remedy for colds, and trying out a new, simple recipe that can take care of my cold might be what I need to make my day bright and colorful.
Having thought of that, I headed on to the kitchen, lucky for me, I had a few garlic and carrots left on the shelf. I sliced the carrots into a flower shape using a knife, and I flattened the garlic I found. This process was really fun and simple which was exactly what I needed.
Within five minutes the two main ingredients for the soup were ready.
And ten minutes later, after adding onions and the remaining spices, my soup was ready to be served.
It tastes delicious and spicy due to the addition of ginger, scent leaves, and bell pepper. Hubby and I enjoyed this new recipe and before we could finish eating it, my nose came alive and free from being blocked. I felt great afterward and my day has been going on beautifully.
If I found myself in a poor mood, I would first think of the reason behind it and that could lead me to finding a way to feel better. Just like I did this morning.
Mindful activities such as trying out a simple and healthy recipe when I'm not in a great mood do help to stabilize and balance my mood. The thought of having something new and having the chance to try it out is exciting to me.
Other times, it could be me taking a walk around our neighborhood, or taking some time off to listen to some of my favorite music.
Playing with my playmate
When I'm not practicing any of the above, I could simply join my playmate, my son. Sometimes we could chase ourselves around the house, play music, and dance together. He loves music more than anything, and he has hilarious moves that can make me laugh out of any uncheerful mood I find myself in.
If hubby is around is even better, sometimes he would stand by just to laugh at our silly plays and cheer us on and other times he would join in the fun.
Among other little things, these are simple mindful activities that I do that help balance my mood. And I called them, The Little Things That Matter.
