Me & My Happiness

The perspective of minimalism has always struck a core within my inner self. Questions and questions piled up as I think about how more can be less and how less can bring happiness. As a child, I would not say I grew up without a silver spoon, but in my home, it was quite basic, something more like a comfortable plastic spoon.

We had just the right amount for food, clothes, shelter, and my education. But as an adult, it is only normal that I should ponder upon an expensive life, filled with expensive holidays and some pretty nice getaway destination for the summer.

But the resounding question should be, will all these make me happy or filled?

I am not one to say those expensive things are not enjoyable to experience, honestly, come on, who would not like an all-expense trip to the Bahamas or that wonderful holiday experience on the island of the Maldives?

These are all quite nice, but aside from these fancy travel destinations, there are things that we do that may seem little on clear sight but are extremely beautiful when you experience them. We might not say much about it because our mind considers them to be small. Anyway, for me, these are the things that keep my life going and bring me happiness.

First off is the comfort of my house. There is a quote I like to say to myself

Home is where the heart finds solace.

Right from the time, I have always been a home buddy, and it as of a result of my upbringing as a child. I was taught to enjoy the four walls of my father's house, as there was nothing much going on out there. I suspect this is what led to my love for board games like Chess, Scrabble, and occasionally Monopoly.

From time to time, I would play with whoever happened to be at home at the time, or when online chess became a fast-growing pandemic among the chess players in my secondary school, it is no surprise that I was the frontrunner. Always playing on my phone in the free time I could get.

This love for my comfort played a role in the setup of my home when I moved in a couple of years back. I knew I had to keep it simple, nice, and comfortable to my taste since I would be spending much of my time there. I would probably say this was the first time I used a minimalistic mindset.

I stayed focused on only the essential things I need and nothing else, cause trust me, setting up a house is more costly than you think. If you are not precise on what you want, you will go way beyond your budget, and given the rate of inflation in today's world, it will happen faster than you think.

The next thing I have to mention is my love for music. I have solely crafted the art of identifying good songs that speak to my mood and, in some way, keep my soul singing even when I do not know the entire lyric word for word.

So I wasted no time in purchasing a pretty nice sound system in order to complement my love for music and tick it off my list immediately. I would even say it was one of the first things I brought home, alongside home appliances, if I remember correctly.

Yeah, got the Oriamo SoundFlow alongside this adidas slide

I also did cook yesterday and after a while, I would say that feeling was really sweet! Maybe one day I’d try sharing some of my secret recipes!

Most times, I keep junks that would last me for a while. These days not so much because of my health. I just try to eat those vegetables and anything that helps improves Iron. But yeah still get them junks to keep myself happy.

Lastly, when it comes to prioritizing things for my happiness, I do that by paying less attention to the negative doubts or thoughts that could come from within sometimes, telling myself I'm not good enough and I need more to be happy. Sometimes they could even come from people, but you just have to shut them down. Tell the naysayers what I say to them;

It is my life and I am going to live it according to my script.

These are what make my soul sing and how I prioritize doing things for inner happiness.

Home is really well we find comfort quite the enjoyment you had there

Yes, I barely leave my house. Been here 3 years and I can count how many times I've gone out

Hmm if you are single type
I cam see why you barely

There's nothing as good as being comfortable in the walls of one's home. It's good that you keep things simple and make plans.

I have a great respect for chess players. I wished I could play.

I am waiting for the recipe whenever you are ready to share.

I never or rarely go out. I feel going out is too stressful and I try to get everything I need at home.

Thank you for your kind words. I might not have the secret recipe to share today, however I have a way you can learn the game of chess.

Feel free to check this collection of short posts, all you need to go from zero knowledge to boldly understand how to play!
