I have to be honest and these last days of the year I have been a bit unmotivated to go around the city and take street photographs, it happens to me every so often and sometimes even having material to share I decide to walk in search of something different or materialize some idea I have in mind in specific areas of the city.
Yesterday I took my camera with me to work and when I left I had planned to walk a few blocks along corrientes avenue, I was thinking about iconic restaurants, capturing moments and actions of people in combination with the aesthetics of this famous avenue but everything got complicated, the place was crowded with people marching against the new current government.
Although I don't like to talk about politics in my posts I took only a few pictures and decided to go home.
In Argentina a new president took office and many people do not agree with the measures that are being taken, which is why the people have taken to the streets in protest of these measures. I had no knowledge about this mobilisation, which made me ruin my tour with the purpose I had set for myself. There were numerous photographers working on this event and the sheer number of people was suffocating.
Still, I thought I would take these pictures as an exercise and test what results I would get, the truth is that it is not my type at all, I don't think I took more than 15 shots when I decided to leave the space and enter the underground.
So, I consider these images as unexpected shots.
Today I will try to pick up what I couldn't do yesterday, but this time I intend to visit other areas and look for something different from what I had thought before. I don't even know what it might be but this might make it more interesting and even more spontaneous.
How could this kind of photography be categorised? Journalistic photography perhaps? Maybe some of you could help me to find a suitable term?
This is me, with my best "HIVE Argentina" t-shirt that I received during the "Hive Meet Up" that took place in Buenos Aires some time ago, motivated to take the pictures that I couldn't take 🤣
That's all, friends! Thanks for stopping by and appreciating!
