Hey everyone from Uzbekistan! πΊπΏ
8:30 AM, Tashkent.
We barely stepped out of the taxi, and the smells hit us hard: shashlik, fresh samsa, and something sweet like someone spilled honey into the air. Welcome to Chorsu β the cityβs oldest market, where trade has been going on since the 10th century, and your appetite wakes up on its own.
π What does Chorsu look like?
- Giant dome made of concrete and sunshine.
- Two floors of food, spices, and chaos.
- Crowds, but not tourists β locals who know where the best plov is.

π΄ Food stalls: what we devoured
| Dish | Vibe | Price (UZS) |
|---|---|---|
| Lamb shashlik | Juicy, fat dripping down your hands π₯ | 25,000 |
| Plov with chickpeas & raisins | Rice soaked in oil, just right | 30,000 |
| Pumpkin samsa | Sweet-salty explosion π€― | 8,000 |
| Uzbek flatbread | BEST BREAD OF MY LIFE. Thin crust, soft inside, smells like childhood. | 5,000 |
I ate the flatbread with my hands, tearing off chunks. Photos canβt capture it, but trust me: this isnβt bread, itβs art. π

π What we bought on the second floor
Mom went full βgotta bring it all homeβ mode:
- Samarkand pistachios β 3 kg
- Honey-glazed almonds β 1 kg
- Dried apricots β another 2 kg
The seller Abdulla (weβre already on a first-name basis) gave us a 20% discount and treated us to tea. He said: "For guests β always a discount." β

- Haggle β but with a smile.
- Bring small change β cards arenβt accepted everywhere.
- Donβt photograph people without permission β but if you ask, theyβll let you try everything for free π
